Is it fun if you just want to shoot things?
The official descriptions point to a strong fit for players who want frequent combat, a steady stream of gear to chase and character growth tied to action. The basic loop is legible: fight, pick up loot, become stronger, and take on more enemies. You do not need to approach the game as a deep strategy exercise to understand what it is asking you to do.
That does not mean the game has no systems to learn. Four Vault Hunters, action skills, branching skill trees and movement abilities give players ways to shape how they fight. The practical distinction is that these systems sit inside a familiar shooter loop; they can add decisions without changing the central appeal of going from one fight and reward to the next. Whether that balance works for you is a matter of taste, not something a headline can settle.
Is Borderlands 4 better with friends?
It supports both solo play and online co-op. Steam lists single-player, online co-op and cross-platform multiplayer, and the official description says: “Wreaking havoc across Kairos is awesome alone and even better with friends in 4-player online co-op.” That is storefront copy from the publisher, not independent evidence that every group will prefer co-op.

If you want company for the shooting and loot chase, the game supports online sessions with up to four players. Online play requires an internet connection, and cross-play requires a SHiFT account, according to Steam’s listing. If you would rather play alone, Steam also lists single-player support.
