Borderlands 4 GPU Performance Profiles: How to Find Your Settings

Borderlands 4’s GPU-specific profiles offer a settings starting point for 1080p, 1440p and 4K. Here’s how to find yours and interpret the performance targets.

Borderlands 4 has GPU- and resolution-specific graphics recommendations for AMD Radeon and NVIDIA GeForce cards. Find the profile for your exact GPU and output resolution, then treat its settings as a starting point—not a guarantee that every scene or later game build will hold a particular frame rate.

What the Borderlands 4 profiles cover

A September 15, 2025 report by Windows Central counted 68 profiles across 1080p, 1440p and 4K, spanning NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 through RTX 5090 and AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT through RX 9070 XT. The count and model ranges are from that report, which cites the official guides; they are not a performance guarantee.

The official 2K/Gearbox AMD optimization guide and 2K/Gearbox NVIDIA optimization guide pair GPU models with recommended settings and output resolutions. The NVIDIA guide is on 2K’s Spanish-language site. The guides’ live profile tables may change; an updated revision date was not established as of October 8, 2026.

How to find your GPU’s recommended settings

  1. Identify your graphics card. Check your system information or the GPU section of the game’s settings. Match the full model name, not just the brand or product family.
  2. Open the corresponding vendor guide. Use the AMD guide for Radeon cards or the NVIDIA guide for GeForce cards.
  3. Choose your output resolution. Find the entry for the resolution you intend to play at—1080p, 1440p or 4K. A recommendation for one resolution is not interchangeable with another.
  4. Apply the listed settings as a baseline. The profiles can adjust image-quality settings and may recommend FSR or DLSS and frame generation where supported. Check that the selected upscaler and frame-generation option are available on your card and enabled in the game before comparing results.
  5. Evaluate in play, not from one immediate reading. 2K says changing graphics settings triggers shader recompilation and advises playing for at least 15 minutes before judging the effect. That is developer guidance, not proof that a wait fixes stutter or raises performance on every system.

What the 30 FPS and 60 FPS targets mean

2K’s guides define expected minimum PC performance as 1080p at 30 FPS on the Low preset, and recommended PC performance as 1440p at 60 FPS on the Medium preset. These are target definitions tied to the stated presets and resolutions—not promises of a locked frame rate in every area or scene. Use the profile for your own GPU and resolution rather than assuming either broad target describes every card.

How upscaling and frame generation affect the result

Upscaling renders the game at a lower internal resolution and reconstructs the output image; frame generation inserts generated frames between traditionally rendered ones. Both can increase the displayed frame rate, but displayed FPS is not the same thing as the rate of newly rendered frames. Image clarity, artifacts and input responsiveness can vary, so assess the result by both visual quality and how controls feel.

The guides may recommend AMD FSR or NVIDIA DLSS, with frame generation where supported. NVIDIA announced DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation support for Borderlands 4 and claimed up to 5.5x average frame-rate multiplication at 4K max settings on an RTX 50 Series configuration. That is NVIDIA’s vendor claim for its specified setup, not an independent result that applies across GPUs or settings. See NVIDIA’s DLSS 4 announcement.

For an independent launch-period comparison, TechSpot tested more than 40 GPUs on a system with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 32 GB DDR5-6000, Windows 11 24H2, NVIDIA Game Ready Driver 581.29, AMD Adrenalin 25.9.1 and Intel Arc driver 101.7029 Beta. Its results describe that game build, test system and driver set, not current universal performance. TechSpot suggested Low or Medium presets for 8 GB GPUs at higher quality settings; that is a launch-period observation, not a rule for every 8 GB card or later build.

When a profile does not match your experience

  • Check that the resolution matches. A 4K profile is not a suitable comparison for 1080p output, or vice versa.
  • Allow for the shader recompilation period. Follow 2K’s 15-minute evaluation advice after settings changes, while recognizing it does not ensure a performance improvement.
  • Separate rendered FPS from generated FPS. If frame generation is on, check responsiveness as well as the displayed frame-rate counter.
  • Account for system and software differences. CPU, memory, drivers, game build, scene and background activity all differ from a guide or benchmark setup.
  • Reduce quality settings if needed. If performance or image stability is unsatisfactory, step down demanding settings and retest rather than assuming the profile must fit your system exactly.

VideoCardz also noted launch-period performance caveats alongside the profile coverage: its September 15, 2025 report provides secondary context, not an independent guarantee for current builds.
