To get the San Saba Songbird in Borderlands 4, defeat Rocken Roller in the Trinket Crevass Abandoned Auger Mine in Ruined Saplands, Carcadia Burn. The pistol is a chance drop, so you may need to repeat the boss fight using Moxxi’s Big Encore Machine nearby. Game8 reports that you must first complete Crystal Brawl during the Shadow of the Mountain main mission to access the area.
How to unlock and get the San Saba Songbird
- Complete Crystal Brawl. Progress through the Shadow of the Mountain main mission and finish the Crystal Brawl quest. Game8 lists this as the access requirement for the mine: Game8’s San Saba Songbird guide.
- Go to Trinket Crevass Abandoned Auger Mine. The mine is in Ruined Saplands, Carcadia Burn. Mobalytics describes the boss’s position as northwest Carcadia Burn: Mobalytics’ unlock guide.
- Defeat Rocken Roller. Rocken Roller is the reported source of the pistol. It is not a guaranteed drop, and the cited guides do not state a drop percentage.
- Repeat the encounter if the pistol does not drop. Use Moxxi’s Big Encore Machine near the boss to fight Rocken Roller again, as described by Game8.
What the San Saba Songbird does
The San Saba Songbird is a Jakobs Legendary pistol. Its listed effect is “Deals +100% Damage for 5s after swapping Guns,” according to Game8 and Mobalytics. The effect rewards switching weapons, but it should not be treated as an endlessly stacking damage bonus: Borderlands Support’s October 23, 2025 update notes say, “Jakobs Legendary Pistol San Saba Songbird no longer stacks infinitely when swapping weapons.” See the official October 23, 2025 update notes.

- Travel to Trinket Crevass Abandoned Auger Mine in Ruined Saplands, Carcadia Burn.
- Defeat Rocken Roller and check for the drop.
- If it does not drop, activate Moxxi’s Big Encore Machine nearby and repeat the fight.
