How to farm Vile Lictor
- Progress through the story until you complete the mission associated with Vile Lictor.
- Return to Umbral Foundry and find the open area reached after using a jump pad.
- Defeat Vile Lictor. MapMaster lists the Looming Dullahan as a possible drop, not a guaranteed reward.
- Use the Encore Machine outside the arena to challenge the boss again, then repeat as needed.
The location and possible-drop listing come from MapMaster. The replay mechanic is supported by the official Borderlands 4 gameplay showcase, which says players can “use Moxxi’s Big Encore machine to challenge Bosses whenever you want.”
How to farm Rocken Roller
- Reach Trinket Crevass Abandoned Auger Mine in Ruined Sumplands. MapMaster says the mine’s bosses unlock after the Crystal Brawl main mission.
- Complete the mine activity and defeat Rocken Roller.
- If the replay mechanism is available after your first clear, use it to challenge the boss again.
- Repeat attempts if needed; the Looming Dullahan is only a reported possible drop.
MapMaster lists four possible Rocken Roller drops, including Looming Dullahan, but does not establish that the shotgun is more likely to drop here than from Vile Lictor. The mine unlock detail and loot listing are from MapMaster; the official showcase confirms the general Big Encore boss-replay feature, not this specific drop.

Which boss should you farm?
There is no supported way to call either boss the better farm by drop odds. The sources do not provide a Looming Dullahan rate or a head-to-head test. Choose based on what is practical for your character:
- Choose Vile Lictor if you have completed its associated story mission and can reach its arena quickly.
- Choose Rocken Roller if the Abandoned Auger Mine is already accessible and this activity is quicker or easier for your build.
- Compare your own runs by travel time, kill time, and how reliably you can complete each encounter. Those factors determine personal farming efficiency, not verified weapon odds.
What is known—and unknown—about the drop
MapMaster lists both bosses as possible sources, while other guides describe the Looming Dullahan as a world drop; AOEAH also names Ripper Drill Sites and Rippa Roadbirds as repeatable farming possibilities. - Do not treat a listed possible drop as a guarantee, or assume one reported boss has better odds.
- Loot pools and farming routes can change with game updates, so older third-party listings may not reflect the current version.
Weapon traits and rolls
Official Borderlands material says Jakobs bullets ricochet on critical hits and explains that licensed parts let guns combine behaviors from different manufacturers. That is useful context when comparing gun variants, but it does not verify the Looming Dullahan’s precise traits, ideal parts, or best roll. The official gameplay showcase is the source for those general mechanics.
