For leveling, start with Dead Ringer and Specters. It is the most consistently supported early-game route because Vex’s Incarnate bleed setup can feel weak before its key skills and gear come online. At level 60, however, there is no single universally proven “best” Vex build: current verified listings include Incarnate gun builds, Dead Ringer Specter builds, Phase Phamiliar minion builds, and Blood Shot variants. The strongest choice depends on whether you want general mobbing, boss farming, or a smoother campaign experience.
This guide reflects the current build landscape through August 6, 2026, including level-60/TUVH7 listings where available.

Best Vex build by activity
| Goal | Recommended direction | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Campaign and leveling | Dead Ringer with Specters | Reliable minion damage, flexible elemental attunement, and a stronger early-game curve than Incarnate bleed. |
| General endgame mobbing | Incarnate Lifesteal Bleed | Scales gun damage into Bleed while Bloodletter and healing effects support sustained fights. |
| Boss farming | Dead Ringer boss setup or Blood Shot | Both focus on concentrated burst rather than universally strong mixed-group clearing. |
| Minion-focused endgame play | Phase Phamiliar or Remnant Minion | Lets your summoned units do more of the work and offers a different playstyle from gun-centric Incarnate builds. |
These are playstyle recommendations, not a claim that every build performs identically in every activity. Current Mobalytics listings show several verified level-60/TUVH7 options rather than one uncontested meta build: BLULOCK | Specter Gun/Heirloom Vex uses Dead Ringer, GUN GAL | Gunslinger Vex uses Incarnate, BLOODWIRE | Remnant Minion Vex uses Phase Phamiliar, and DRONEMANCER | Blood Shot Vex uses Incarnate. The page lists the first three as updated August 6, 2026 and DRONEMANCER as updated August 2, 2026.

How Vex’s class mechanic shapes every build
Vex has three skill trees and a matching action skill for each:
- Vexcalation: Incarnate
- The Fourth Seal: Dead Ringer
- Here Comes Trouble: Phase Phamiliar
Her class trait, Phase Covenant, attunes her to the elemental type of the equipped gun. It also converts action-skill and melee damage—including kinetic damage—to that attuned type. That makes weapon swapping and elemental matchup management central to Vex rather than an optional optimization. The three-tree/action-skill structure is outlined by PC Gamer’s Vex guide.
Best endgame direction: Incarnate Lifesteal Bleed
The strongest broadly supported endgame concept is an Incarnate build built around Kinetic damage, Bloodletter, and Bleed scaling. PC Gamer describes the Vexcalation/Incarnate infinite-bleed setup as generally Vex’s strongest configuration, while a June 6, 2026 tier list ranks Lifesteal Incarnate Bleed first. That is strong evidence for the archetype, but not proof that it is the best build for every current activity.

The core package highlighted by those guides is:
- Kinetic damage as the primary damage focus
- Bloodletter to establish the Bleed interaction
- Leeching Attunement for sustain
- Material Components
- Essence Leech
- Blood Is Power
- Cursed Blade
The important distinction is that Incarnate is primarily a gun-damage build. Do not assume Eldritch Blast is the main source of damage simply because Incarnate grants access to it; the commonly described bleed loop prioritizes weapon damage while Incarnate is active.

The Incarnate bleed loop
- Equip a throwing knife with the Penetrator augment.
- Use the knife to force or enable critical hits.
- Trigger Bloodletter and apply the build’s Bleed interaction.
- Keep firing high-damage Kinetic weapons so gun damage continues scaling the effect.
- Use Leeching Attunement and the rest of the sustain package to remain in the fight.
This setup is attractive because it combines damage over time with healing and can remain effective across ordinary groups and tougher targets. Its exact performance still depends on the current item rolls, difficulty, enemy resistances, and any later balance changes. The tier-list discussion is available at Games.gg, and the skill interaction is described in PC Gamer’s guide.
When Dead Ringer is better
Dead Ringer is the better recommendation when you want a Specter-centered playstyle while leveling, or concentrated boss damage at endgame. The Fourth Seal setup is not as universal as Incarnate Bleed: the available tier-list analysis specifically describes it as a boss-farming build and says it struggles more against mixed enemy groups.
The boss-oriented package highlighted in that analysis includes:
- The Fourth Seal
- Ancient Rites
- Prismatic Weaponry
- Diener
Choose Dead Ringer for boss-focused farming or if you prefer fighting alongside summoned Specters. Choose Incarnate Bleed when you want a more self-sufficient gun build for varied endgame encounters.

Blood Shot: a burst-damage alternative
Blood Shot is another Incarnate-based endgame route. The relevant guide recommends the Undead Eye class mod together with Bod or Complex Root to trigger Blood Shot on critical hits, again pairing the setup with a Penetrator Augment throwing knife.
The guide claims sub-three-second boss kills and one-shot mob kills. Those are author-reported performance claims, not independently verified benchmarks, so treat them as an indication of the build’s intended burst profile rather than a guaranteed result. Mobalytics’ build page is the source for the setup: Blood Shot Endgame Vex.
Best Vex leveling path: Dead Ringer Specters
Both PC Gamer and Mobalytics recommend a Specter/minion route with Dead Ringer for leveling. This conflicts with a June 6, 2026 tier-list recommendation for Phase Phamiliar as a leveling choice, but the more detailed leveling guides agree that Incarnate bleed is less comfortable early and that Dead Ringer provides a stronger progression path.

Alternative level-bracket route
PC Gamer presents the same general Specter direction in level brackets:
- Levels 2–6: Cold Iron 5; activate Coven.
- Levels 7–11: Grave Assault 3; Portents of Suffering 2.
- Levels 12–16: Blood Sacrifice 1; Grave Quickening 4.
- Levels 17–21: Prismatic Weaponry 5.
- Levels 22–26: Obedient Fiends 5, then Dark Pact and Wither.
- Levels 27–32: Diener 1; Prismatic Ichor 5.
Use the Mobalytics order if you want a precise point-by-point sequence. Use the PC Gamer brackets if you prefer planning around level milestones. They are different presentations of a broadly similar leveling philosophy, not two mandatory skill trees.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to play the leveling build
- Throw ordnance to obtain kills. This helps start the build’s Kill Skill engine.
- Place Specters at range or on high ground. Give them clear lines of sight instead of dropping them in the middle of a group.
- Keep moving between encounters. The build relies on Kill Skills, so a fast pace helps preserve its bonuses.
- Swap attunements when needed. PC Gamer specifically recommends frequent attunement changes and multiple elemental status effects on harder difficulties to handle resistance differences.
- Use Blood Sacrifice intelligently. It allows the build to activate Kill Skills when a minion dies, rather than relying only on player kills.
The trade-off is clear: Mobalytics identifies limited defense and movement speed as weaknesses, along with reliance on Kill Skills. This build is strongest when you control positioning and maintain momentum, not when you stand still and absorb damage.

One specific warning from the leveling guide: Enchantment does not work with Dead Ringer in the listed setup. Do not build around that interaction without confirming that a later update has changed it.

Leveling gear and farming targets
During the campaign, prioritize useful rolls over waiting indefinitely for a perfect named item. PC Gamer recommends Jakobs and Maliwan weapons in general, with Fire Dancer, Naturalist, or Psion class mods as useful targets.
| Item | Reported farming locations or sources |
|---|---|
| Firewerks shield | Splashzone, Riptide Grotto, Coastal Bonescapes, and Fadefields |
| Aegon’s Dream assault rifle | Horace, Horace’s Oversight, Hungering Plains, and Fadefields |
| Hellwalker shotgun | Saddleback and Immortal Boneface, Old Scrape dig site, Cuspid Climb, and Terminus Range |
| Avatar class mod | Primordial Guardian Inceptus, Fadefields vault, and Arch of Inceptus |
Mobalytics additionally recommends watching for a Penetrator Augment on throwing knives, high-base-damage Kinetic shotguns, and underbarrel attachments such as Spread Launcher, Beam Tosser, Shrapnel Cannon, Knife Launcher, Taser, and Shotgun.
The guide says these underbarrel attachments have internal cooldowns and claims that switching to another gun with the same attachment can bypass the cooldown. That interaction is a guide-author claim without independent testing or official confirmation in the available sources, so treat it as an optional experiment rather than a guaranteed mechanic.

- Choose Incarnate Lifesteal Bleed if you want the most broadly supported general-purpose endgame concept and enjoy Kinetic gunplay, critical hits, Bleed, and sustain.
- Choose Dead Ringer if boss farming and Specter support matter more than perfect mixed-group clearing.
- Choose Blood Shot if you want a critical-hit burst build and are comfortable with guide-reported rather than independently benchmarked performance claims.
- Choose Phase Phamiliar or a Remnant Minion build if you want a minion-first playstyle and prefer current verified community options over the conventional Incarnate meta.
For current options, use Mobalytics’ Vex builds page. Its current interface exposes Verified Builds, Community Builds, Search…, Action Skill, Build Type, Trending, Filters, and Show more. Filter by action skill and build type, then check the update date and difficulty level before copying a build.
What not to assume
“Infinite Bleed is definitively the current best Vex build” is too broad. One June 2026 tier list ranks it first, but the newer August 2026 verified listings show multiple viable level-60/TUVH7 builds and mark an older Infinite Bleed listing outdated.
Likewise, Phase Phamiliar should not automatically be called the best leveling build. That recommendation appears in one tier list, while newer detailed leveling guides from PC Gamer and Mobalytics favor Dead Ringer with Specters.
Finally, older level-50 guides should not be presented as current endgame coverage without qualification. Current listings reference level 60 and TUVH7, so a level-50 skill path may still explain the class but does not describe the current endgame target as precisely.
