The project once described as being in the “final development stages” is no longer awaiting its projected release: GameSpot reported on January 27, 2025, that Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Nextgen Edition had been released. What did “final development stages” mean?
TechJuice reported that Revolution Team said 95% of the work was complete and that final testing was underway. That percentage was a team-reported progress claim, not an independently verified measurement. The TechJuice page does not expose a precise publication date, so its claim should be treated as a historical update rather than a statement of the project’s present status. It also mentioned work on interior lighting.
The same TechJuice report forecast a release before the end of 2024, with a possible delay to January 2025 if bugs required more work. GameSpot’s January 27, 2025 report that the mod had been released superseded that forecast. The original report is available at TechJuice.

How does it differ from Rockstar’s official Vice City collection?
The official alternative mentioned in the earlier TechJuice report is Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. It is a separate Rockstar collection, not the Nextgen Edition mod. Rockstar’s official customer-support materials cover Vice City and the Trilogy Definitive Edition.

Can you still download the fan mod?
