How to unlock the Bod farm
First complete the main story mission “Shadow of the Mountain.” Guides report that finishing it opens access to the Abandoned Auger Mines. The Bod’s reported dedicated source is Axemaul, inside the mine named Toil of Spoiling Vis in Dominion’s Carcadia District. Mobalytics’ item entry, AllThings.How’s guide and Shacknews’ guide agree on Axemaul as the target.
Route to Axemaul
From the Final Defiance Fast Travel Point, leave into the plaza and head down the ramp. Turn left along the wall to find a smaller opening, then follow the mine north and to the right. Continue through the large room with a Ripper drill, use the Phase portal, and cross the upper platforms to reach Axemaul’s arena. This is the route described by Shacknews in September 2025; if a patch or navigation change makes a landmark unclear, use the in-game map and follow the mine toward the boss arena.
Repeat the fight efficiently
- Reach Axemaul at the end of Toil of Spoiling Vis and defeat the boss.
- Check the loot for the Bod. Axemaul can drop it, but it is not guaranteed on each kill.
- Use Moxxi’s Big Encore Machine near the arena to reset the encounter.
- Fight Axemaul again and repeat until the shotgun drops.
Multiple clears may be needed. No authoritative current numeric drop rate is available in the cited guides, so a specific number of expected kills would be misleading. Shacknews recounts one writer’s run of 15 Legendary drops before getting the Bod; that is an individual anecdote, not a rate or a prediction for other players. AllThings.How likewise cautions that the farm may take multiple clears.

What is known about the drop tier
In a GamesRadar+ report dated January 23, 2026, Gearbox Associate Creative Director Grant Kao said: “It’s being moved from the low % tier to the primary drop tier to help players farming for the unique gun.” That report indicates a change intended to make the Bod easier to farm, but it does not establish the weapon’s live drop configuration today. No official live drop table or later patch confirmation is cited here, so treat Axemaul as the target and the drop as chance-based rather than assuming a particular probability. What the Bod does—and which roll to keep
The Bod is a Legendary Daedalus shotgun with the All-Arounder trait: it counts as a shotgun, assault rifle, sniper rifle, pistol and SMG. That can help when a build or challenge checks weapon-category tags, although the damage benefit depends on the bonuses in your build. Sources also report elemental variants and different firing modes or parts; there is no single best roll for every character. Mobalytics, PC Gamer and AllThings.How describe the weapon and its trait.

- Keep a usable Bod if it fits your current build; consider chasing a particular element or part only if it meaningfully supports how you play.
- Think about when you want to use it: an under-level drop may need replacing as you progress, so farming closer to your intended play level can avoid spending time on a version you will quickly outgrow.
Could a Wildcard mission be an alternative?
Wildcard mission rewards rotate, and the Bod is not a standing reward. AllThings.How’s October 1, 2025 guide describes it as an occasional possibility, not a dependable farm. Check the current weekly reward in-game before choosing that route; for targeted attempts, Axemaul remains the reported dedicated source.
