In the current Together version of No Rest for the Wicked, bows are main-hand weapons—not the off-hand weapons described in older guides. Quivers change the elemental character of bow attacks, while distance, trajectory, moveset, and attribute requirements all affect which bow fits a build. There is no established universal best bow; the right choice depends on how you fight and what your character can support.

How bows work in the Together version

Bows occupy the main-hand weapon slot in Together. Advice that tells you to equip a bow off-hand and fire using Focus describes the pre-Together system, not the current equipment setup. The current bow guide, reviewed September 8, 2026, identifies Together Hotfix 9 as its later weapon-record check and Together Patch 1 as the source of bow range changes: No Rest for the Wicked Bows, Quivers and Bow Builds.

Bows do not all handle alike. Their attack patterns, attack speed, running attacks, and rolling attacks can differ. Pay attention to the complete moveset rather than judging a bow only by its attribute requirements or damage type.

What quivers change

Together added quivers that alter the kind of projectile a bow fires. The current guide identifies four elemental types:

  • Blasting Quiver: explosive arrows.
  • Freezing Quiver: frost arrows.
  • Shocking Quiver: lightning arrows.
  • Blighted Quiver: blighted arrows.

A quiver is a way to shape your ranged attacks, not a universally best-in-slot choice. Its usefulness depends on your bow, runes, gear, and the encounter. Choose for the setup and situation you actually have rather than assuming one element is always strongest.

How range affects shots

Together Patch 1 introduced distance-based damage reduction and projectile gravity. Arrows deal full damage only within a certain distance, and their trajectory curves downward near the end of their range. The current guide does not give a numerical distance or damage curve, so there is no supported universal meter value to use for aiming or damage planning.

Range is also a positioning constraint: terrain can block shots, and some enemies react aggressively to ranged attacks. Look for clear lines of fire and avoid treating the bow as a way to attack safely from any distance.

How to choose among the recorded bows

The current guide’s figures below are in-game attribute requirements and recorded moveset or arrow fields, not official rankings. Its recommendations are conditional editorial judgments, not proof that one weapon is best for every character.

Bow Recorded requirements Recorded attack or arrow field What to weigh
Lacquered Bow 36 Dexterity Fire Arrow, Ice Arrow, Lightning Arrow, Plague Arrow A high-investment option when elemental variety, Hunter’s Mark, and suitable gear align with your build.
Balak Talon 23 Dexterity, 23 Faith Retreating Trimshot A mobile, multi-arrow candidate; the guide does not assign it a fixed tier.
Twinkling Short Bow 23 Dexterity, 23 Intelligence Skybreaker A conditional option for multi-arrow or elemental experimentation.
Siren’s Call 19 Dexterity Cone Shot Its running attack stamina cost increased in Patch 1; evaluate it in the current build rather than relying on older impressions.
Pale Ash 23 Dexterity, 23 Intelligence Flipkick Burst The guide lists it but does not assess it.
Short Bow Lower verified requirement than the other bows in this comparison; an exact value is not stated in the guide. Not stated in the guide A lower requirement alone does not establish availability, ease of use, or strength.

For a beginner, no single bow is established as a defensible universal winner. Try a bow’s attacks—including its running and rolling attacks—before committing to a specialized setup. Then compare what it asks of your attributes with the quiver, runes, gear, and positioning you intend to use.

Why older bow guides disagree

Some 2024 guides, including Twinfinite’s How to Use Bow in No Rest for the Wicked and Gamer Guides’ All Weapons List & Weapon Types, describe bows as off-hand weapons associated with Focus. Those descriptions are historical and should not be combined with Together’s main-hand equipment advice.

A practical way to decide

  1. Check whether your character meets the requirements. Compare the bow’s recorded attribute needs with your current build before investing around it.
  2. Try the moveset. Check ordinary, running, and rolling attacks; a requirement number does not tell you whether the weapon’s rhythm suits you.
  3. Match the quiver to your setup and encounter. Consider how its projectile type works with your bow, runes, and gear rather than selecting an element by default.
  4. Test your effective range and positioning. Account for damage falloff, downward projectile travel near maximum range, obstructing terrain, and enemy responses.
  5. Commit only if the whole setup works. A specialized choice such as Lacquered Bow may make sense with the right investment and support, while a mobile multi-arrow option may better fit a different playstyle.
