For The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in Cemu, start by selecting Vulkan if your GPU and driver support it, enabling asynchronous shader compilation, and checking that Cemu is using your intended graphics device. Then review the current FPS++ graphic pack for the game. These steps can address compatibility, shader stutter, or game-specific performance, but they do not guarantee a particular frame rate.
Set Cemu’s graphics options first
Cemu’s Performance Guide recommends a graphics card supporting OpenGL 4.5 or Vulkan 1.1. Where supported, choose Vulkan in Cemu’s graphics settings. On a PC with integrated and discrete graphics, confirm that Cemu is assigned to the more capable GPU; selecting an API alone will not help if the emulator is using the wrong device.
Enable asynchronous shader compilation as well. Its main purpose is to reduce interruptions while shaders are being compiled, so it is better understood as a way to reduce shader-related stutter than as a guaranteed increase in sustained frame rate. Cemu’s general guidance is an emulator-level baseline, not a Breath of the Wild performance benchmark.
Check the current FPS++ graphic pack
Cemu identifies Breath of the Wild’s FPS++ pack as an example of a graphic pack that can improve performance. Open Cemu’s Graphic pack window, use its community graphic-pack download function to obtain the current pack, and read the pack’s notes and available options before changing them. Pack contents and settings can change over time, so an old preset from a setup guide may not match the version you have.

FPS++ is a game-specific option, not a substitute for suitable hardware or a compatible graphics API. If a setting causes visual problems or instability, return to the pack notes and your current Cemu version rather than assuming the same configuration applies to every setup.
Know what the hardware recommendations mean
Cemu’s general hardware guidance calls for at least 4 GB of RAM and recommends 8 GB or more. Those figures describe the emulator’s general recommendations; they do not promise smooth performance in Breath of the Wild.

The game’s Cemu compatibility page warns that, as of Cemu 2.6, graphics cards with 2–3 GB of VRAM or less may struggle in Hyrule Castle, where the emulator uses more VRAM. This is a specific location-related caution, not a universal VRAM cutoff or a benchmark showing how the game will run on every system.

Before considering an upgrade, check which resource is actually constrained while the game is running. Compare CPU and GPU use, available system memory and graphics memory, the resolution you are using, your graphics driver, and your Cemu version. A GPU that lacks the required API support or runs short of VRAM may be a relevant upgrade target; if the slowdown is elsewhere, buying a graphics card may not solve it.

Cemu’s compatibility page includes community reports from different hardware and software configurations. They can offer examples, but they are not controlled comparisons and cannot establish a reliable expected FPS for a different PC. The official guidance likewise does not provide a head-to-head benchmark of Vulkan, FPS++, or hardware upgrades across systems.
