Start Breece Hall over Braelon Allen when Hall is active. Through the Jets’ first three games of 2026, Hall led Allen in carries and receiving production, giving Hall the stronger workload and PPR floor. Hall’s thigh injury has made Allen a more attractive short-term option if Hall is ruled out, but Isaiah Davis could also see work. Injury information below reflects reports published September 28 and 30, not a current medical update.
Who should you start: Breece Hall or Braelon Allen?
With both backs available, Hall is the preferred fantasy start. Through three 2026 games, the New York Jets list Hall with 51 carries for 163 rushing yards and one touchdown, plus 10 receptions for 102 yards. Allen had 19 carries for 61 yards and one touchdown, with four catches for 11 yards.

Hall’s advantage is not just rushing volume: his receiving work gives him a better path to points in PPR and half-PPR leagues. The sample covers only three games, so it is evidence of their early roles rather than a guarantee of what comes next.
How do their roles and touches compare?
| Through the first three 2026 games | Breece Hall | Braelon Allen |
|---|---|---|
| Carries | 51 | 19 |
| Rushing yards | 163 | 61 |
| Rushing touchdowns | 1 | 1 |
| Receptions | 10 | 4 |
| Receiving yards | 102 | 11 |
Hall opened the season with 22 carries and two catches against Tennessee, followed by 16 carries and five catches against Green Bay, then 13 carries and three catches against Detroit. Allen had 10, five and four carries across those games; his catches were zero, one and three. That pattern points to Hall as the lead back when both played, with Allen in a smaller supporting role.
#1 Best Overall
Hall’s recent workload history adds context, not a promise of future production: the Jets list 243 carries for 1,065 yards and four rushing touchdowns in 2025, along with 36 receptions for 350 yards. Allen’s first-three-game totals do not establish that he would match Hall’s production if promoted.
What happens to Allen’s fantasy value if Hall is out?
Allen becomes a viable short-term option if Hall cannot play, because he is a candidate for the lead opportunity. But do not assume he automatically inherits all of Hall’s touches. A September 28 report described Hall as week-to-week after he left the Week 3 game at Detroit with a thigh injury and named Allen and Isaiah Davis as backs who could cover an absence. A September 30 fantasy update treated Hall as out for Week 4, projected a starting opportunity for Allen and warned Davis might share the work. Those are dated reports, not a current injury designation or a guarantee of how the workload would be divided.
Rank #2
The available reporting does not establish a stable goal-line role for Allen, and the three-game sample is too small to pin down his efficiency or a backfield split without Hall. Check the latest Jets injury report and any fresh indication of Davis’s role before using Allen as a starter.

- PPR and half-PPR: Hall’s 10 catches through three games, compared with Allen’s four, support Hall’s stronger reception-based floor when both are active.
- Standard scoring: Hall still has the clearer case when available because his early carry count was substantially higher. Allen’s case improves if Hall is unavailable, but the potential for Davis to share touches remains relevant.
- Bench and handcuff decisions: Allen is more valuable as a rostered contingency for Hall’s absence than as a weekly alternative while Hall is healthy.
What should you check before setting a lineup?
- Confirm Hall’s latest status using the Jets’ official injury report; do not rely on the September 28 or 30 updates as current.
- If Hall is ruled out, look for a current report on whether Davis is expected to share the backfield.
- Choose Allen based on the likely opportunity, your scoring format and the alternatives available in your lineup—not on an assumption that Hall’s full workload transfers to him.
