browsefoldermgr.dll is a third-party application DLL associated with Corel software, not a normal Windows system file. If Windows says browsefoldermgr.dll is missing, not found, or could not be loaded, repair or reinstall the Corel program that displays the error rather than copying a loose DLL into a Windows folder.
The exact Corel product that installed this file is not publicly verified. It may be an older or current Corel application, but the filename alone does not prove that it belongs to CorelDRAW, PaintShop Pro, WordPerfect, or any other specific product.

Before you start
Note the following details from the error:
- The exact application name
- The complete error text
- The file path shown, if any
- Whether the problem began after an update, reinstall, cleanup, crash, or antivirus alert
- Whether other applications are also failing
The consistently documented file sample is a 32-bit Windows DLL, sometimes described as BrowseFolderMgr DLL and attributed in public file records to Corel TW Corp. That information helps identify the file, but it does not identify every legitimate release or prove which Corel product installed it.
Fix 1: Repair the Corel application
Time needed: 5–15 minutes
Repair is the safest first step because it restores missing or damaged files belonging to the installed program without asking you to identify a replacement DLL manually.

- Close the Corel application and any related installer windows.
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
appwiz.cpland press Enter. - In Programs and Features, find the Corel product that fails to start.
- Select it and choose Uninstall/Change.
- In the Corel setup wizard, choose Repair or Modify.
- Follow the prompts and allow the repair to finish.
- Restart Windows.
- Open the same Corel application again.
If the application starts normally, the repair restored the file or corrected a related installation entry. Do not move the repaired DLL to another folder.
If you do not see Repair, choose Modify and look for a repair or reinstall option. If the product has no maintenance wizard, continue with the official reinstall step below.
Fix 2: Reinstall the matching Corel product
Time needed: 15–45 minutes
Use this step when repair is unavailable, fails, or the installation contains files from different Corel releases.
- Open Settings with Windows key + I.
- Select Apps → Installed apps in Windows 11, or Apps → Apps & features in Windows 10.
- Find the Corel application named in the error.
- Select its three-dot menu, or select the application and choose Uninstall.
- Restart Windows after removal.
- Download the installer from Corel’s official download or support page, using the product and account associated with your license.
- Install the same product and edition that previously failed.
- Restart Windows again.
- Test the application before copying back custom program files or old DLLs.
Do not mix files from different Corel versions. Copying an old browsefoldermgr.dll into a newer installation can replace a compatible file with one that has different dependencies.
If you cannot identify the parent application, check the error window, the shortcut’s Target field, or the location of the executable that was being launched. The DLL normally belongs in the Corel program’s own installation directory, not automatically in C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64.
Fix 3: Check antivirus quarantine
Time needed: 5–10 minutes
A file that disappeared shortly after an update or reinstall may have been quarantined. Restore it only if you recognize the Corel installation and have verified that the detection is not a genuine threat.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Choose Protection history.
- Expand any recent detection related to the Corel program or
browsefoldermgr.dll. - Read the detection name, affected path, and action taken.
- If the file clearly belonged to a trusted Corel installation, update Microsoft Defender and run a scan before deciding whether to restore it.
- Restore or allow the file only when you are confident the installation is genuine.
- Run the Corel repair process afterward so the program can restore the correct copy.
If the detection identifies malware, do not restore the file. Choose the cleanup action, run a full scan, and reinstall Corel from its official installer after the system is clean.

Fix 4: Check 32-bit and dependency compatibility
Time needed: 10–20 minutes
The documented sample of browsefoldermgr.dll is 32-bit. A 32-bit application can run on 64-bit Windows, so 64-bit Windows does not mean that you should replace the file with a 64-bit copy.
Check the application architecture when possible:
- Right-click the Corel shortcut and select Open file location.
- Right-click the main executable and select Properties.
- Open the Details tab and record the product information.
- Use the product’s official documentation or support channel to confirm whether that release is 32-bit or 64-bit.
- Repair or reinstall that same release rather than downloading a DLL with a matching filename.
A message saying “The specified module could not be found” can also mean that browsefoldermgr.dll exists but one of its dependencies is missing. Repair Corel first. If the complete error names a runtime such as VCRUNTIME140.dll or MSVCP140.dll, install the appropriate Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable from Microsoft and match its architecture to the application.
Do not reinstall Visual C++ merely because browsefoldermgr.dll is present. There is no evidence that this Corel DLL is itself a Visual C++ Redistributable file.
Fix 5: Run Windows component repair only when Windows is also damaged
Time needed: 10–30 minutes
SFC and DISM repair Windows components and protected Windows files. They are not a guaranteed way to restore a third-party Corel DLL, so use them when Windows has additional symptoms such as damaged built-in apps, update failures, or system-file errors.
Outdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchPC Slower Than It Used to Be?

- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
- Approve the permission prompt.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for DISM to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows and test the Corel application.
If SFC reports that it repaired files, test Windows and Corel again. If it reports that it could not repair everything, restart and run the commands again, then return to Corel repair or reinstall.
When manually repeating DISM and SFC becomes uncertain, Outbyte PC Repair can scan for system issues and show what it finds; its repair action requires the full version. Reinstalling the Corel program remains the definitive fix for a missing Corel-owned DLL.
Fix 6: Update drivers only when the evidence points to a driver problem
Time needed: 10–30 minutes
A graphics or storage driver can contribute to application crashes, but a generic driver update is not the primary fix for a missing browsefoldermgr.dll. Use this step if Corel also shows display errors, crashes during graphics operations, or Device Manager reports a device problem.
- Right-click the Start button.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand categories such as Display adapters, Storage controllers, or Sound, video and game controllers.
- Right-click the affected device and select Properties.
- Open the General tab and check Device status.
- Open the Driver tab to view the provider and date.
- Obtain an updated driver from the device manufacturer or Windows Update.
- Restart Windows and test Corel.
Do not remove a working driver simply because browsefoldermgr.dll is missing. Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for outdated drivers and show which versions need attention; installing drivers still requires the full version, and a Corel repair remains the correct fix for this application DLL.

Windows Features is not a general DLL repair tool. Use it only when the complete error or the Corel product documentation specifically identifies a Windows component such as .NET Framework or legacy application support.

Do not enable random features to make the filename disappear. If the installer requires a particular runtime, use the official Microsoft installer or the Corel installer rather than a third-party DLL package.
Do not copy the DLL or use regsvr32 blindly
Avoid downloading browsefoldermgr.dll from random DLL websites. A loose replacement may contain malware, belong to a different Corel release, use the wrong architecture, or fail because another dependency is missing. It can also hide the damaged installation and create version conflicts.
Do not copy the file into:
C:WindowsSystem32C:WindowsSysWOW64- A random application folder
- Another Corel product’s directory
regsvr32 usually does not apply here. Ordinary application DLLs are loaded by their parent program and are not registered like COM or ActiveX controls. Running a command such as regsvr32 browsefoldermgr.dll may produce an entry-point or registration error and does not prove that the file is correct.

Other recovery options
Run a malware scan
If the file was replaced, appeared in an unexpected folder, or triggered a security alert:
- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Choose Scan options.
- Run Full scan.
- If the threat may persist, choose Microsoft Defender Offline scan and follow the restart prompt.
Try a new Windows profile
A damaged user profile can prevent an otherwise valid Corel installation from starting.
- Open Settings → Accounts → Other users.
- Select Add account.
- Create a temporary local test account.
- Sign in to that account.
- Launch Corel.
If Corel works there, reset the original Corel workspace or user configuration and check permissions. The DLL itself may not be the problem.

FAQ
Is browsefoldermgr.dll part of Windows?
No reliable evidence identifies it as a Windows component. It is associated with third-party Corel software and should not be placed in a Windows system folder.
Which Corel product installed it?
Public file records attribute the DLL to Corel-related software but do not reliably map it to one exact Corel product or release. Identify the application named in your error and repair that installation.
Is it 32-bit or 64-bit?
The consistently documented sample is 32-bit. A 32-bit Corel application needs its 32-bit DLL even when Windows is 64-bit. Do not trust a similarly named replacement described as 64-bit.
Why does Windows say the specified module could not be found when the file exists?
The named DLL may depend on another missing or incompatible library. Repair Corel first, then investigate any separately named dependency.
Will SFC restore browsefoldermgr.dll?
Usually not. SFC repairs protected Windows files, while this is an application DLL. Use Corel’s repair or installer as the primary recovery method.
What should I provide to Corel support if nothing works?
Record the exact Corel product and release, full executable and DLL paths, Windows version, complete error text, antivirus detection name, and the steps already attempted. This gives support enough information to identify the correct installer and dependency chain.
