Which fix applies to you
Use the first description that matches what you see:
- A Bluetooth utility, tray program, or adapter application shows the error: repair or reinstall that Bluetooth package.
- The error appeared after antivirus activity: check Windows Security Protection history before reinstalling.
- The Bluetooth device or laptop was recently updated: reinstall the exact driver package from the computer or adapter manufacturer.
- The Bluetooth software was removed but the error remains at startup: disable the stale startup entry and remove the incomplete installation.
- Several Windows components are also failing: use DISM and SFC, but do not expect them to restore this third-party DLL.
- The file exists but still will not load: check 32-bit versus 64-bit compatibility and missing dependencies.
Do not begin by downloading bscdlg.dll separately or copying it into C:WindowsSystem32.

What bscdlg.dll belongs to
bscdlg.dll is associated with the BlueSoleil Bluetooth software stack from IVT Corporation. It also appears in OEM packages branded:
- BlueSoleil
- IVT BlueSoleil
- Ralink Bluetooth Stack
- Ralink Bluetooth Stack64
- Ralink Bluetooth Software Driver
- A Bluetooth utility supplied with a laptop or USB adapter
Some older packages placed the DLL in C:WindowsSystem32. That location does not make it a Microsoft Windows file. The package that installed it owns the file.
Historical listings describe it as Bluetooth Application. Public metadata also shows historical builds with different architectures and versions, so a file that happens to have the right name is not necessarily compatible with your application.

Before repairing anything, identify the parent application.
Check the complete error
Note the application name in the title bar or surrounding text. A Bluetooth tray utility, adapter manager, or old control panel entry is more useful than the DLL name alone.
If the message appears during startup:
- Press
Ctrl+Shift+Esc. - Select Startup apps.
- Look for BlueSoleil, Ralink, Bluetooth, or an adapter-brand utility.
- Right-click a likely entry and choose Open file location, if available.
- Record the folder and application name.
Do not delete the DLL or startup entry yet. First determine which package it belongs to.

Check the adapter
- Right-click Start and open Device Manager.
- Expand Bluetooth.
- Double-click the adapter.
- Open the Driver tab and note the provider, date, and version.
- Open Details, select Hardware Ids, and copy the first value if you need to search the manufacturer’s support page.
If the adapter is built into a laptop, use the laptop manufacturer’s support page. For a USB adapter, use the adapter manufacturer’s page. Match the package to the exact model and Windows architecture.
If the DLL is still present, right-click it, choose Properties, and inspect Details and Digital Signatures. A missing signature does not automatically prove malware, particularly with old packages, but an unexpected folder or unknown signer deserves caution.
Fix 1: Repair the Bluetooth application
Repair is the least disruptive option when the package is still installed.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →- Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
- Find BlueSoleil, Ralink Bluetooth software, or the relevant adapter utility.
- Select the three-dot menu.
- Choose Advanced options, if present.
- Select Repair.
- Restart Windows.
- Launch the Bluetooth application again.
Not every traditional desktop program provides a Repair button. Microsoft documents repair and removal options in its program repair guidance.
If the error disappears, test Bluetooth audio, file transfer, or the feature that previously triggered the message. If Repair is unavailable or changes nothing, continue with a complete reinstall.
Fix 2: Reinstall the matching Bluetooth package
This is the most reliable repair for a missing or damaged bscdlg.dll.
- Disconnect the Bluetooth adapter if it is an external USB device.
- Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
- Uninstall BlueSoleil, Ralink Bluetooth Stack, or the relevant Bluetooth utility.
- Restart Windows even if the uninstaller does not request it.
- Open Device Manager.
- Expand Bluetooth.
- Right-click the affected adapter and choose Uninstall device.
- If offered, select Attempt to remove the driver for this device.
- Select Uninstall.
- Restart again.
- Download the Bluetooth package for the exact computer or adapter from its manufacturer.
- Run the installer, commonly named
setup.exeor located inside an extracted package. - Restart when installation finishes.
- Reconnect the adapter and test the application.
Do not mix files from different releases. A 32-bit application may require the x86 package even when Windows itself is 64-bit. Other packages include x64 components or separate cabinet files. Use the architecture and release intended for that adapter and operating system.
A Ralink-branded package may be the correct owner even when the DLL is associated with BlueSoleil. Conversely, installing a similarly named BlueSoleil package from another computer can leave the application with mismatched files.

- Upgraded Bluetooth 5.3 Adapter: This bluetooth adapter for pc uses the latest upgraded Bluetooth 5.3 BR+EDR technology, greatly improves the stability of the connection data transfer speed, reduces the possibility of signal interruption and power consumption.
- Up to 5 Devices Sync Connected: UGREEN Bluetooth dongle for PC supports up to 5 different types of Bluetooth devices to be connected at the same time without interfering with each other, such as Bluetooth mouse/keyboard/mobile phone/headphones, etc. If Bluetooth audio devices of the same type (such as speakers/headphones) are connected, only one device can play music.
- Plug and Play: The Bluetooth adapter is developed for Windows systems only and does not support other systems. No driver installation is required under Windows 11/10/8.1. NOTE: Win 7, Linux and MacOS System are NOT supported.
- Mini Size: An extremely compact Bluetooth stick that you can leave on your laptop or PC without removing it.The compact size does not interfere with other USB ports. Convenient to carry, no space occupation.
- What Can I do if the Bluetooth adapter can not work?: Ensure there are no other Bluetooth devices installed on the computer. If there are, disable all existing Bluetooth devices in "Device Manager", then insert the adapter and try again. (For detailed information please read the user manual)
If the manufacturer no longer offers the old package, check the computer maker’s archived driver section or the Microsoft Update Catalog by hardware ID. A generic Windows Bluetooth driver may restore device operation but may not restore the old BlueSoleil interface that calls bscdlg.dll.
Fix 3: Check antivirus quarantine before replacing anything
Windows Security may have quarantined or removed the file.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Open any detection involving
bscdlg.dllor the Bluetooth application. - Check its file path and detection details.
Restore the file only if you can confirm that it came from the legitimate Bluetooth installation and the package is expected on your computer. Microsoft explains this process in its Protection history guidance.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteIf the file came from an unexpected writable folder, leave it quarantined. Run a full scan, then reinstall the complete Bluetooth package from the OEM source. Restoring a suspicious DLL simply to make the error disappear is not a repair.
Fix 4: Update or reinstall the Bluetooth driver
Use this path when the error started after an update, device replacement, or driver cleanup.
- Open Device Manager.
- Expand Bluetooth.
- Right-click the adapter and choose Update driver.
- Select Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart and test the application.
If Windows reports that the best driver is already installed, check the manufacturer’s support page manually:
- Identify the adapter model from Device Manager.
- Download the driver for the exact model, Windows release, and x86 or x64 architecture.
- Extract the package if necessary.
- Run its setup program as administrator.
- Restart Windows.
- Confirm the provider and version under Device Manager → adapter → Properties → Driver.
Manually hunting through old driver pages and comparing hardware IDs is slow, especially when several Bluetooth packages look interchangeable. Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for outdated drivers and show what needs attention; the full version performs the driver installation. It is optional, and the adapter manufacturer’s package remains the definitive choice for a BlueSoleil or Ralink-specific application.
Fix 5: Check for a stale startup entry
If you already uninstalled the Bluetooth utility, Windows may still be trying to launch an old tray component.
- Press
Ctrl+Shift+Esc. - Select Startup apps.
- Find the BlueSoleil, Ralink, or adapter entry.
- Right-click it and choose Disable.
- Restart Windows.
If the error stops, remove the remaining Bluetooth software through Programs and Features or the vendor’s uninstaller. Do not remove unrelated Microsoft startup items merely because their names are unfamiliar.

- This Bluetooth adapter for PC utilizes the latest Bluetooth 6.0 EDR technology, delivering faster data transfer speeds, seamless high-quality audio/video streaming, and efficient large-file transfers.
- Up to 5 Devices Sync Connected: This Bluetooth dongle for PC supports up to 5 different types of Bluetooth devices to be connected at the same time without interfering with each other, such as Bluetooth mouse/keyboard/mobile phone/headphones, etc. Note: If Bluetooth audio devices of the same type (such as speakers/headphones) are connected, only one device can play music.
- Ultra-High Data Transfer Speeds: With Bluetooth 6.0 technology, this bluetooth dongle will bring us a faster speed experience. And Bluetooth 6.0 is backward compatible with Bluetooth5.4/5.3.
- EDR and BLE Technology - This Bluetooth dongle is equipped with enhanced data rate and Bluetooth low energy, it wil optimize energy.
- Plug and Play: The Bluetooth receiver is developed for Windows systems only and does not support other systems. No driver installation is required under Windows 11/10/8.1. NOTE: Linux and MacOS , Win 7 System are NOT supported.
If the entry points to a folder that no longer exists, it is probably orphaned. If it points to an existing application, reinstalling that application may be cleaner than deleting individual files.
Fix 6: Check dependencies and architecture
A correct-looking DLL can still fail when its companion files are absent.
Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallOutdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchFirst, confirm whether the caller is 32-bit or 64-bit. A 32-bit program generally needs the x86 build of its Bluetooth package. A 64-bit program needs the x64 build. Windows being 64-bit does not make every 32-bit DLL interchangeable with a 64-bit one.
Then:
- Reinstall the complete Bluetooth package rather than copying only
bscdlg.dll. - Check whether the error names another DLL after the reinstall.
- Review Event Viewer by pressing
Win+R, enteringeventvwr.msc, and selecting Windows Logs → Application. - Look for an error at the time of the failed launch.
- Check the application’s installer log if the package provides one.
Visual C++ Redistributables, DirectX, and .NET are common troubleshooting suggestions, but they are not the identity of bscdlg.dll. Install or repair those runtimes only when the affected application specifically requires them or reports a runtime error. Reinstalling them will not normally restore a missing BlueSoleil file.
Fix 7: Use Windows repair commands only for Windows corruption
SFC does not normally own or restore third-party BlueSoleil files. Use these commands when Windows has other symptoms, such as damaged system components, failed updates, or multiple built-in tools malfunctioning.
- Open Start.
- Type
Command Prompt. - Right-click it and select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows and test the Bluetooth application.
Microsoft describes the roles of DISM and System File Checker. If both commands complete successfully but bscdlg.dll is still missing, repair the Bluetooth package instead.
Repeating SFC and DISM without knowing what changed rarely helps with an application-owned DLL. Outbyte PC Repair can scan for broader Windows issues and show what needs attention; the full version performs the repair. It is optional, and reinstalling the Bluetooth program remains the definitive fix when that program owns the file.
Why regsvr32 usually does not fix it
regsvr32 is for DLLs that expose the DllRegisterServer entry point, typically COM or ActiveX components. It is not a general command for installing any missing DLL.
If you have a vendor instruction specifically requiring registration, use the exact command supplied for that package and architecture. Otherwise, do not register bscdlg.dll routinely. A command such as:

regsvr32 bscdlg.dll
may return an error saying the entry point was not found, or it may register the wrong file if multiple copies exist. Microsoft explains the tool’s intended scope and errors in its Regsvr32 documentation.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
If the normal reinstall fails
Try these recovery steps in order:
- Recheck the adapter’s hardware ID and install the OEM package for that exact device.
- Verify whether the application is x86 or x64.
- Check Protection history again.
- Look for the next missing dependency named by the loader.
- Use System Restore if the failure began after a known installation or update and a suitable restore point exists. Microsoft’s recovery options explain what System Restore changes.
- If the adapter is obsolete, uninstall BlueSoleil and use the manufacturer’s current Windows-supported driver or the built-in Windows Bluetooth stack.
Avoid registry cleaners and loose DLL replacements. They can conceal the original package problem while introducing an incompatible or unsafe file.
FAQ
Is bscdlg.dll a Windows system file?
No. It is associated with third-party Bluetooth software, especially BlueSoleil and OEM Ralink Bluetooth packages. An old installer may place it in System32, but that does not make it part of Windows.
Can I download bscdlg.dll by itself?
You should not. A standalone file may have the wrong architecture, missing dependencies, an incompatible resource set, or malicious modifications. Restore the complete Bluetooth package from the computer or adapter manufacturer.
Is bscdlg.dll related to Microsoft Visual C++?
Not directly. Repairing Visual C++ may help only if the application reports a separate runtime failure. It does not replace the owning Bluetooth package.
Does SFC restore bscdlg.dll?
Normally, no. SFC checks protected Windows system files, while bscdlg.dll belongs to an installed Bluetooth application.
Why does Windows say the specified module could not be found when the DLL exists?
A dependent DLL may be missing, the file may be the wrong bitness, or the package may be incomplete. Reinstall the matching parent package and check the next dependency named by the application or Event Viewer.
Should I use regsvr32?
Usually not. Use it only when the vendor’s instructions require registration and the DLL supports the required registration entry point.
How do I know the repair worked?
Restart Windows, confirm the Bluetooth utility starts without the message, and test the adapter or Bluetooth feature that originally failed. If the same error returns at startup, investigate the startup entry, quarantine history, architecture, and package version rather than copying another DLL.
