Its V3.0.0 announcement describes more than five years of work and over 50,000 real-world buildings recreated, but the release it describes covers Lower Manhattan—not all five boroughs.
What does “1:1 scale” mean for BuildTheEarth NYC?
The project’s stated goal is a full New York City recreation at 1:1 scale. In an official update dated June 1, 2026, BuildTheEarth Team NYC wrote that it aims “to recreate New York City in Minecraft at a 1:1 scale in this project.” That describes the overall ambition; it does not mean every part of the city is already built or included in a particular release.
The project update also reports a team of over 7,530 users. That is the project’s stated user count, not a verified count of active builders.
How many buildings have been recreated?
BuildTheEarth’s V3.0.0 release announcement says the effort had been underway for over five years and that more than 50,000 real-world buildings had been recreated. Those are figures reported by the project, not independently audited totals. MineFact’s video description, published January 11, 2026, also characterizes the effort as more than five years old and says it had brought over 50,000 buildings to life across Lower Manhattan; that is creator-provided framing rather than a separate count.

Which parts of Manhattan does the V3.0.0 release cover?
The release announcement describes a Lower Manhattan map and names these included districts and areas:
- World Trade Center District
- Tribeca
- Two Bridges
- Little Italy and Chinatown
- Civic Center
- SoHo
- Nolita, NoHo and Bowery
- Battery Park City and Liberty Island
- Seaport District
This release coverage should not be confused with the project’s full-city objective: the announcement does not claim that the complete city, or all five boroughs, is finished.

How can you visit New York City in Minecraft?
MineFact’s video description lists Java and Bedrock download routes as well as the server addresses nyc.buildtheearth.net and bedrock.buildtheearth.net. The BuildTheEarth Team NYC update dated June 1, 2026 lists a monthly downloadable package containing a Harbor City world folder, along with schematics for One Manhattan Square, a museum and the Brooklyn Bridge. The package listing identifies Minecraft Java Version 1.21.11, and some downloads are shown with membership tiers.
These listings do not establish whether the server addresses still work, which versions they currently support, or whether the full V3.0.0 map is downloadable without membership. Check the project’s current listing before choosing a route or changing your Minecraft version.

Is the NYC Minecraft map really 1:1 scale?
That is the project’s stated design goal. The available project announcement establishes the intended scale, but does not provide an independent measurement or audit confirming the scale of every structure or the complete map. Treat “1:1” as the project’s claim about its goal rather than a third-party-verified result.
