Burn With Me launched on Steam on October 12, 2026. Developed by Nozomu Games and published by Inner Pocket, it is a single-player, story-focused deckbuilder in which occult rituals add cards to your deck—but escalating difficulty and more frequent draws can permanently burn a random card from your hand. The game is available for Windows, macOS and SteamOS/Linux, with a free demo covering the first of its six chapters.
What is Burn With Me?
Burn With Me is a narrative deckbuilder built around cozy dread, occult mysteries and positional tactics. Its story follows university students who discover ancient rites and invocations with help from a passionate Teacher. Each character confronts personal trials, summons personal demons and advances through chapters whose mechanics reflect individual fears and obsessions.

Steam describes the game as “a story-centric deckbuilder filled with cozy dread and occultic mysteries.” The structure is authored rather than presented as an endless series of anonymous runs: the store listing identifies six chapters and six characters, with almost 100 cards to discover. Many cards also have alternative secret visuals created by invited artists.

Rituals expand your options
Playing rituals adds cards and broadens the tools available to each character. More cards can mean stronger combinations, more summons and better answers to increasingly demanding encounters.

Difficulty makes drawing dangerous
The central risk is that progression does not merely increase enemy strength. As rituals become harder, the game forces more frequent draws. Those draws can permanently burn a random card in your hand. A newly added card is therefore not protected simply because you just acquired it: it can be the card sacrificed by the next dangerous draw.
Launch coverage describes the mechanic as a brutal possibility attached to every draw. In practical terms, the tension comes from the draw pressure created by rising difficulty and the permanent nature of the loss. You are constantly weighing the benefit of adding another effect against the chance that a useful card will disappear before you can build around it.

Why permanent removal changes deckbuilding
In many deckbuilders, thinning a deck is a deliberate optimization: remove weak cards, improve draw quality and make a preferred combo more reliable. Burn With Me turns that familiar idea into a threat. The card removed may be random, and it may be one you intended to play. A larger deck can offer more possibilities, but it also gives the burn system more valuable targets and can make a carefully planned sequence unstable.
That creates a different decision framework from ordinary “add the strongest card” advice. You need to consider immediate survival, the value of cards currently in hand, how much redundancy your strategy has and whether a new ritual is worth exposing the rest of the deck to additional draw pressure.

Position and creature summoning matter too
Burn With Me is not only about choosing cards in the right order. Its systems include position-based synergies and creature summoning, so where effects and creatures are placed can matter alongside what you draw. The result is a deckbuilder that combines hand management with board-layout decisions.
The exact tactical demands differ by character and chapter. Because the chapters are designed around the characters’ fears and obsessions, learning a chapter’s rules is part of understanding its story rather than a separate challenge mode. The mathematics of managing positions, draws and permanent losses is central to the game’s identity; the Deutscher Computerspielpreis jury summarized that approach as a reimagining of deck-building with “a healthy dose of mathematics.”

Story, chapters and scope
An occult university setting
The students’ studies begin with ancient rites and invocations, but the narrative is personal as well as supernatural. Each character faces a trial, summons a personal demon and moves through a chapter that translates their concerns into mechanics. That premise gives the card systems a narrative purpose: the rules are meant to express what the characters fear or obsess over.

Platforms and the free demo
The Steam listing provides requirements for Windows, macOS and SteamOS/Linux, making this a PC release with coverage across the major desktop operating systems supported by Steam. A free demo is available and presents the first of the six chapters.
The demo is the clearest way to test whether the permanent-burn system suits you before buying. It also gives you an introduction to the occult-university setting and the game’s position-based combat without requiring access to the full campaign. Daniel Mullins, the author of Inscryption, wrote of the demo: “Enjoyed it a lot!” That comment is an individual response to the demo, not evidence that the two games use the same mechanics or structure.
Launch price and editions
Steam lists the following launch pricing:
| Edition or price | Details |
|---|---|
| Standard edition | $14.99 listed price |
| Introductory offer | $9.89 through October 26, 2026; time-sensitive storefront promotion |
| Collector’s Edition | Bundles the game with its soundtrack |
Prices and availability are storefront facts for the launch period and can change after the introductory offer ends. The soundtrack is a digital bundle addition; the available listing does not establish a physical edition, card deck, art book or merchandise line.
Is Burn With Me like Inscryption?
Both games fit broadly within the narrative deckbuilder space, but the available information does not establish a direct mechanical equivalence. Burn With Me’s defining distinctions are permanent, potentially forced card burning tied to draw pressure, positional synergies, creature summoning, six authored chapters and an occult-university tone. Its campaign framing also differs from a game described primarily through repeatable roguelike runs.
If you are comparing the two, focus on the systems rather than the shared label “deckbuilder”: ask whether you want random permanent losses from your hand, board-position tactics and a chapter-based story. The positive demo comment from Mullins is useful context for interest, but it is not a claim that Burn With Me is an unofficial sequel, clone or mechanically identical alternative.
Quick Recap
Who should play it?
- Choose it if you enjoy: authored supernatural stories, character-driven campaigns, positional card tactics and high-stakes deck management where losses cannot simply be undone.
- Expect friction if you prefer: fully predictable deck thinning, permanent access to every card you acquire or runs that let you reset without story consequences.
- Try the demo first if: you want to see how the draw pressure feels, whether random burning is exciting or frustrating and whether the first chapter’s positional rules click for you.
