What C.A.S.T. is
C.A.S.T. combines the risk-and-reward structure of an extraction game with cooperative fighting against monsters and environmental anomalies rather than other human squads. Players select a character and loadout, enter a raid, complete objectives, survive enemy hordes, and reach an extraction point with whatever progress and gear they managed to secure.

The game is set in an alternate version of 1950s Europe. Its visual language mixes a nostalgic postwar setting with advanced technology, hostile creatures and anomalous zones. Steam describes the game as a “third-person PvE extraction shooter playable solo or in co-op.”

How the extraction loop works
Each raid is organized around preparation, risk management and escape. The broad sequence is:
- Choose a character and loadout. Select the equipment and modifiers that fit the objectives and the threats expected in the zone.
- Enter a raid. Maps are handcrafted but include procedural elements, so routes, encounters and conditions can vary between runs.
- Complete the primary objective. The main task gives the expedition its direction and determines what the team must accomplish before extraction becomes worthwhile.
- Pursue side tasks. Optional objectives can add rewards or strategic value, but they also expose the squad to more enemies and anomalies.
- Fight or evade threats. Enemy hordes and anomalous hazards create different kinds of pressure. A team may need to spend ammunition on monsters, reposition around a dangerous zone or abandon a detour to preserve its chance of getting out.
- Extract. The run is only secured when the player or party reaches an extraction point and leaves successfully.
That structure makes route planning as important as raw firepower. A shorter, safer extraction can be the correct choice when the squad has completed its essential task, while a side objective may be worth the additional danger when the party has the equipment and time to support it.

Solo and four-player co-op support
Solo play
C.A.S.T. can be played alone. Solo players must handle objectives, combat, movement and extraction without teammates to divide tasks or revive a failed push, making threat avoidance and loadout choices especially important.

Online co-op supports parties of one to four players. A full squad can distribute attention across objectives, cover movement through hostile areas and adapt roles during a fight. The same objective-driven raid design still applies: optional tasks increase potential rewards while consuming time and adding exposure to danger.

Maps, weather and anomalous threats
The environments are not described as entirely procedural. Instead, C.A.S.T. uses handcrafted maps with procedural elements, a combination intended to preserve authored locations while varying parts of individual raids. Weather is also varied, adding another changing condition to navigation and combat.
Anomalies are a central danger distinct from ordinary monsters. They can force players to recognize hazardous areas, alter a planned route or decide whether an objective is worth entering a dangerous zone. Because the game is PvE, these environmental threats and enemy hordes provide the pressure that a competitive extraction shooter would normally create through opposing players.

Weapons, modifiers and crafting progression
Progression extends beyond simply finding a stronger item during a raid. Ranged and melee weapons have upgrade options, allowing players to improve both firearm-based and close-combat approaches.
Loadouts use modifiers, giving preparation a build-oriented layer. The useful choice is not only which weapon to carry, but how its upgrades and modifiers support the character’s intended role and the objectives on the selected run.

A crafting workshop provides the longer-term progression hub. It can improve existing gear and craft new equipment, giving successful expeditions a practical purpose even when the next raid has different threats. The available information establishes the workshop’s functions, but not a complete recipe list, resource economy or maximum upgrade values.
PC requirements
Steam lists the following minimum specifications for the Windows version. These are store-listed minimums, not an independent performance test or a guarantee of a particular frame rate.

The broadband requirement applies even though the game can be played solo; solo refers to the number of players in the raid, not necessarily an offline mode. The listed requirements also do not establish recommended settings, support for other operating systems or performance on handheld PCs.
