Later balance changes have not been checked here, so compare the weapon’s in-game stats before settling on it.

PC Gamer reports a base bullet velocity of 715 m/s and about 930 m/s with the recommended barrel. Those are figures from its 2024 guide, not values independently confirmed after subsequent game updates. Why this build works—and what to watch
The AS VAL has an integrated suppressor, which means it has no muzzle attachment slot. That limits the available attachment choices: this build uses the barrel, underbarrel, magazine, rear grip and Fire Mods slots instead. Call of Duty’s launch guide describes five attachment points for primary weapons and says Gunfighter adds three. PC Gamer notes that the AS VAL may get less value from Gunfighter because the missing muzzle slot leaves one fewer place to attach gear; an optic can still make the wildcard worthwhile if you dislike the iron sights.
These are tradeoffs, not a universal setup. A 40-round magazine can ease reload pressure, but if its handling penalties feel too costly, the guide suggests trying Extended Mag I. If you prefer mobility or hip-fire performance, consider No Stock or Fast Motion Laser in place of an attachment that matters less to your play style. PC Gamer’s class recommendation supports an aggressive approach built around fast movement and close engagements:

Equipment choices
Stim Shot provides on-demand healing in the guide’s suggested setup. Choose Impact Grenade for a quick explosive against an approaching enemy; Semtex is the alternative if you find its throw easier to place accurately. Sleeper Agent is the recommended field upgrade for deception. Assault Pack, Trophy System and Scrambler are alternatives if you want a different field-upgrade role.

Perks and specialty
Dexterity reduces weapon motion while jumping, sliding and diving, while Double Time extends tactical sprint. Assassin creates Bounty Packs. For the fourth perk, Ghost conceals you from UAV and Scout Pulse while moving; Ninja or Tac Mask are the other options named by PC Gamer. Perk Greed enables that additional perk. Call of Duty’s multiplayer guidance says a Combat Specialty activates when three selected perks share its specialty set; check the in-game loadout display to confirm the chosen combination.

When to adjust the recommended setup
- You want more mobility or hip-fire strength: Consider No Stock or Fast Motion Laser, as PC Gamer suggests.
- The extended magazine feels too cumbersome: Try Extended Mag I instead of Extended Mag II.
- You dislike the iron sights: An optic may make Gunfighter more appealing despite the AS VAL’s missing muzzle slot.
- You are building for a different range or mode: Reassess the balance of range, velocity, recoil, capacity and handling in Gunsmith instead of assuming this aggressive multiplayer class transfers unchanged.
