To unlock a Black Ops 6 Mastery camo, complete that weapon’s nine Military camos and two Special camos in the mode you’re playing, then finish its displayed Mastery challenge. Each mode has four Mastery tiers, and later tiers also require you to earn earlier tiers on a specified number of other weapons. Camo progress does not require weapon leveling.
What are the Mastery camos in each mode?
Multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone have separate camo tracks and separate names for their four Mastery tiers. Progress in one mode does not substitute for the corresponding camo in another.

How to unlock a Mastery camo on a weapon

Choose the mode and weapon
Start in the mode whose camo you want. Each mode tracks its own Military, Special, and Mastery challenges, so check the challenge shown for the selected weapon in that mode.

Complete the nine Military camos
Military camos unlock sequentially for each weapon. Multiplayer’s launch-guide example uses headshot milestones of 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, 50, 75, and 100 for the nine camos, from Granite through Red Tiger. Zombies Military progress generally focuses on critical kills; Warzone Military progress generally focuses on eliminations. Those broad descriptions are not a substitute for the specific challenge displayed in-game.

Complete both Special camos
Each weapon has two Special camo challenges to complete. The camos are earned for that weapon, but once unlocked they can be equipped on another weapon if that weapon has completed its Military track and opened the Special category.

Finish the weapon’s Mastery challenge
After its Military and Special tracks are complete, complete the applicable Mastery challenge shown for that weapon. Challenge conditions vary by weapon and mode; do not assume a requirement listed for one weapon applies to another.

Repeat for each weapon you want to use it on
Mastery camos are earned individually. Unlocking a camo on one weapon does not unlock it for the rest of the arsenal; it can be used only on the weapon for which you earned it.

What gates the higher Mastery tiers?
Completing a weapon’s own challenge and opening access to the next tier are separate steps. After earning the first-tier camo on a weapon, you must also meet the mode’s cross-weapon requirement to open the next tier. Then you still have to complete that next tier’s challenge on every weapon you want to use it on.

The seven-Assault-Rifle and 33-weapon figures are examples from Activision’s 2024 launch guide, not a promise that every later roster or update uses the same gate. Check the current requirement shown in-game for the mode, tier, and weapon roster you have.

Which mode’s camo grind should you pursue?
Pick the mode based on the challenge actions you prefer and the camo names you want. The broad Military-camo focus differs by mode, while the individual Mastery challenges and cross-weapon gates should be checked in-game.

Practical checks before you start
- Verify you are tracking the correct weapon and mode; the three mode tracks are independent.
- Read the displayed challenge for each weapon rather than copying a requirement from another weapon.
- Keep the two kinds of progress distinct: a tier gate earned across other weapons opens access, while the camo challenge on the target weapon earns that camo for that weapon.
- Do not wait for weapon levels to unlock camo challenges. Activision Support says camo unlocking is available from the moment you obtain a weapon and does not require weapon leveling.
