When did Black Ops 6 come out?
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launched on October 25, 2024. Activision lists the release date and supported platforms on its official game page.
The date of the reveal was June 9, 2024—not the release date. Xbox presented the game during its Xbox Games Showcase, followed by a dedicated Black Ops 6 Direct.
What did the June 9 reveal show?
An early-1990s spy thriller
The campaign is set in the early 1990s, amid the Gulf War and political upheaval. It follows Black Ops veteran Frank Woods and his team after a clandestine force infiltrates the CIA and makes them targets. Activision described a campaign built around action set pieces, varied play spaces, heists, and spy activity. The official reveal article provides the campaign and development context.

Omnimovement across modes
The showcase’s main gameplay innovation was Omnimovement. Players can sprint, slide, and dive in any direction, rather than being limited to the familiar forward-facing movement pattern. Xbox said the system applies across game modes; its October 2024 launch guide later described the movement system in more detail.
Multiplayer and Zombies
Activision’s game page lists 16 multiplayer maps at launch: 12 core maps designed for 6v6, plus four Strike maps playable in either 2v2 or 6v6. It also lists two round-based Zombies maps at launch. These are launch-content counts, not a claim about the game’s current map lineup.

Which platforms can you play it on?
At launch, Black Ops 6 was released for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Activision lists Microsoft PC Store, Steam, and Battle.net among the PC storefronts. Check that a purchase or physical listing matches your specific console and edition; a disc copy, digital purchase, and subscription access are different ways to play.
Was Black Ops 6 on Game Pass at launch?
Yes. In a May 28, 2024 announcement, Xbox said the game would be available on day one through select Game Pass plans. That statement records the original launch offer; it does not establish current plan eligibility, price, or catalog availability. Xbox’s announcement is the dated source for the offer.
