A November 1, 2024 update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was reported to address a black screen some players encountered while loading into a public or private match in Multiplayer and Zombies. The report also described fixes for other gameplay issues. That historical patch report does not establish whether every affected player or platform was fixed, or confirm the bug’s final status today.
What the November 2024 update addressed
Neowin’s November 1, 2024 report described a black screen appearing for some players when loading into a public or private match in Multiplayer or Zombies. Its summary also reported that the update corrected the Slugs shotgun attachment’s damage, changed Free-For-All ranking to use eliminations rather than total score, and fixed a Liberty Falls Zombies main-quest issue that could leave players stuck in spectator mode.
The report page was not available for verification, so these details should be read as the contemporaneous report’s account of the patch. No exact version number or platform-by-platform release timing is established here.
Do not confuse the match-loading bug with the Theater issue
Treyarch’s separate Black Ops 6 Season 01 Patch Notes, published in November 2024, listed a fix for a black screen when viewing a file in Theater. That issue had a different trigger and context from the reported black screen while loading into a match; the Theater note does not by itself confirm that the match-loading problem was fixed.

What is known about the issue now
Activision’s Known Issues in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 tracker, updated July 10, 2026, describes itself as a running list of identified or reported problems under investigation or scheduled to be fixed, with a separate resolved-issues section. It does not explicitly confirm the final status of the November 2024 match-loading black screen. That means the available tracker does not establish either that the issue is still active or that it was universally resolved.

What to try if you still encounter a black screen on PC
Activision’s PC troubleshooting guidance recommends several general maintenance steps. It does not identify them as a guaranteed fix for this particular historical bug.
- Keep Windows up to date.
- Let shader preloading finish at the main menu before leaving it.
- Use the relevant game platform’s file verification or repair option when appropriate.
If the problem persists, check Activision’s current Known Issues tracker. For a problem that is not listed, Activision’s support index directs players to its Black Ops 6 Feedback and Bug Reporting page. A historical patch report is not a guarantee that a current occurrence has a known fix.
