The “The Truth Lies” live-action teaser was an advance piece in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s reveal campaign, published May 28, 2024. Its official copy offered the cryptic lines “If it’s the truth you seek, look in the dark” and “The Truth Lies.” The fuller description of the game came later, during the June 9 reveal.
What is “The Truth Lies” teaser trailer?
Call of Duty’s official YouTube channel published “Black Ops 6: ‘The Truth Lies’ – Live Action Reveal Trailer” on May 28, 2024. The trailer was a live-action teaser promoting the upcoming Black Ops 6 reveal, rather than a detailed gameplay presentation.
The channel’s description used the lines “If it’s the truth you seek, look in the dark” and “The Truth Lies.” Those are campaign slogans, not confirmation of a particular plot theory or a complete explanation of the game’s story.
When did Black Ops 6 get its full reveal?
On May 28, Activision and Blizzard announced that the worldwide reveal would take place during the Xbox Games Showcase on June 9, 2024, at 10 AM PT, followed immediately by Black Ops 6 Direct. Xbox also said on May 28 that the June event would offer a deeper look at gameplay.

#1 Best Overall
- Developed by Treyarch and Raven, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is a spy action thriller set in the early 90s, a period of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterized by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower.
- This is signature Black Ops across a cinematic single-player Campaign, a best-in-class Multiplayer experience, and the epic return of Round-Based Zombies.
- The Black Ops 6 Campaign provides dynamic moment-to-moment gameplay that includes a variety of play spaces with blockbuster set pieces and action-packed moments, high-stakes heists, and cloak-and-dagger spy activity.
- In a best-in-class Multiplayer experience, players will test their skills across 16 new maps at launch, including 12 core 6v6 maps and 4 Strike maps that can be played 2v2 or 6v6.
- Black Ops 6 also marks the epic return of Round-Based Zombies, the fan-favorite mode where players will take down hordes of the undead in two brand-new maps at launch. Post-launch, players can look forward to even more exciting maps and groundbreaking experiences dropping into both Multiplayer and Zombies.
The teaser’s role was therefore to build anticipation for that scheduled presentation. It did not, by itself, establish the game’s setting, developers, release date, or platforms.
