Call of Duty’s September 2025 announcement described Black Ops 7 camos as a multi-mode pursuit, not a Multiplayer-only grind. The announced paths included weapon-specific challenges across Co-Op Campaign, Multiplayer, Zombies, and—starting with Season 1—Warzone, plus Universal Camos from Weapon Prestige, Weekly Challenges, and seasonal events. Those details describe what the publisher announced, not a verified list of rewards or requirements currently live on October 8, 2026.
Which modes were announced for camo progression?
Call of Duty said camo progression would span Co-Op Campaign, Multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone at Season 1. Its August 2025 announcement also said Co-Op Campaign XP, weapon leveling, camo unlocks, and challenges could contribute to global progression shared with Multiplayer and Zombies, with Warzone joining in Season 1. In practice, the announcement presented Campaign as another place to work toward progression rather than a separate silo. Call of Duty’s August 2025 reveal describes that connection.
The September 2025 multiplayer deep dive summarized the broader approach: “Black Ops 7 introduces more Mastery Camos than ever seen before with the addition of a Camo chase in Co-Op Campaign, and more ways to earn Camos across multiple systems in the game.” The official deep dive is the source for the announced counts and paths below.
What was the announced camo structure?
Call of Duty’s September 2025 announcement counted 30 launch weapons, with 16 camos per weapon: nine Military, three Special, and four Mastery. It also counted 16 different Mastery Camos across the four modes. These are publisher-announced launch figures; they do not confirm the game’s current weapon roster or reward inventory.

How does the core weapon challenge path work?
For most weapons, the announced Military Camo progression used headshots, with milestone requirements of 5, then 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, and 80. The requirement differs for two weapon classes:
- Most weapons: Headshots, with the final Military milestone at 80.
- Shotguns: Point Blank Kills instead of headshots.
- Sniper Rifles: One Shot Kills instead of headshots.
The announcement describes the Military challenges, but does not establish current challenge values or whether any have changed since publication.
What other routes to Universal Camos were announced?
The publisher outlined several ways to earn Universal Camos beyond the core weapon challenge path:

Weapon Prestige
Each weapon was announced to have three unique Universal Camos earned by progressing deep into that weapon’s Prestige track. The announcement does not specify the time or difficulty required.

Weekly Challenges
Starting in Season 1, Call of Duty announced two Universal Camos per season: one for completing half of the available Weekly Challenge weeks, and a seasonal Mastery Camo for completing all of them. Because this route is tied to seasons and weekly availability, the 2025 announcement alone cannot establish which rewards or challenges remain obtainable now.
Seasonal events and updates
Call of Duty said seasonal events and updates would bring additional Universal Camos, without enumerating specific rewards or unlock conditions in the announcement. A further camo entry was classified in that announcement, so its identity and requirements were not disclosed.

Which path should you choose?
The announced systems offer different ways to approach the grind, depending on what you play and what kind of reward you want:
- Prefer a particular mode? The camo journey was announced across Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies, with Warzone joining at Season 1.
- Working on a specific weapon? Follow its class-specific Military challenge: headshots for most weapons, Point Blank Kills for Shotguns, or One Shot Kills for Sniper Rifles.
- Want Universal Camos? The announced alternatives were Weapon Prestige, seasonal Weekly Challenges, and additional event or update rewards.
- Considering a seasonal challenge? Its availability and completion window depend on the season; the announcement does not verify the current rotation.
The official material does not compare these routes by completion time or difficulty, so it does not establish which is fastest.
