There are separate tracks for Co-op Campaign, Multiplayer, Zombies and Warzone; camo challenges and unlocks do not carry over between modes or automatically apply to other weapons.
How Black Ops 7 camo progression works
Activision’s official camo progression guide describes three stages for each weapon in each mode: Military, Special and Mastery. Military Camos unlock in sequence. After all nine are earned, that weapon’s three Special Camo challenges become available and can be completed in any order. Complete all nine Military and three Special Camos to open the weapon’s Mastery track.

Mastery Camos are weapon-specific: unlocking one for a weapon does not unlock it for another. Each of the four modes has its own four-camo Mastery track, for 16 mode-specific Mastery Camos in all. The guide describes 30 primary, secondary or melee weapons at launch; that is a launch count, not a statement of the current weapon total.
Military Camo requirements by mode
The standard Military challenge is based on critical kills in Campaign and Zombies, headshots in Multiplayer, and eliminations in Warzone. The listed thresholds below are cumulative milestones for the applicable weapon and mode; class exceptions can change the challenge type.

These requirements are not universal across weapon classes. The official guide identifies these exceptions:
- Shotguns use point-blank kills for Military challenges in Campaign, Multiplayer and Zombies.
- Snipers use one-shot kills rather than headshots for Multiplayer Military Camos.
- Launchers and melee weapons have their own kill, elimination or destruction criteria.
Check the selected weapon’s Camo Challenge menu for its exact objective rather than assuming the standard requirement applies.

Special Camos: weapon-specific challenges
Each weapon has three Special Camos per mode. Their challenges vary by weapon and mode, so there is no single set of objectives that applies across the arsenal. All nine Military Camos for that weapon in the mode must be complete before the Special challenges unlock; once available, the three can be completed in any order.
For example, Activision’s Multiplayer MXR-17 guide lists Diamondback for 50 eliminations with five or more attachments, Raptor for 30 kills while or shortly after sprinting, and Mainframe for 20 kills with an underbarrel launcher equipped. Those are MXR-17 Multiplayer objectives, not general requirements for other weapons.

Tier 1: earn the camo on one weapon
Once you finish that weapon’s Military and Special Camos in a mode, complete its weapon-specific first Mastery challenge. Examples in Activision’s guide include eliminating 20 Special enemies for Campaign’s Molten Gold, getting three kills without dying 10 times for Multiplayer’s Shattered Gold, getting 10 rapid kills 15 times for Zombies’ Golden Dragon, and getting three kills in a match five times for Warzone’s Golden Damascus.
Tier 2: complete the weapon class
First earn the Tier 1 camo on every weapon in the same weapon class. Then complete the mode-specific Tier 2 challenge. Guide examples include eliminating 100 Zone III or IV enemies in Endgame for Campaign’s Moonstone, getting 10 Double Kills or better for Multiplayer’s Arclight, getting 20 or more consecutive kills without taking damage five times for Zombies’ Bloodstone, and getting five kills without dying five times for Warzone’s Starglass.

Tier 3: reach the 30-weapon milestone
Earn the Tier 2 camo on 30 weapons, then complete the next mode-specific task for the Tier 3 camo. The detailed challenge text is weapon- and mode-dependent; use the official guide and the in-game menu for the objective that applies to your selection.
Final tier: earn Tier 3 on 30 weapons
The final Mastery Camo unlocks after you earn the previous Mastery tier on 30 weapons. The official guide describes this as an automatic unlock rather than a separate unique challenge for each weapon.

How to choose a practical unlock route
- Choose the mode and weapon first. A weapon’s challenge path is mode-specific, and completing one mode’s track does not substitute for another’s.
- Read the selected weapon’s challenge menu. Confirm whether its Military objectives follow the standard mode pattern or a weapon-class exception.
- Finish Military Camos in order. Track the cumulative milestones shown for that weapon and mode.
- Complete the three Special Camos. Once unlocked, do them in whichever order suits your play style and available loadout.
- Work through Mastery by tier. Tier 1 is for an individual weapon; Tier 2 adds the whole weapon class; Tier 3 and the final tier each hinge on a 30-weapon milestone.
Seasonal Camo Events are separate
Seasonal event camos are not a substitute for the four base Mastery Camos attached to each mode’s weapon progression. Treyarch’s Season 06 patch notes, dated October 7, 2026, describe the “Camo Costume Party” event, with weapon-class challenges across Multiplayer, Zombies, Endgame and Warzone. The notes list eight camo rewards, four animated, plus the Arcblade melee weapon. Event availability can change, so check the in-game event menu for current objectives and availability.
Season 06 is described in the same notes as the final season of Black Ops 7 Ranked Play. That seasonal status does not change the base Military, Special or Mastery progression described above.
