Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 requires TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot on PC in addition to its CPU, GPU, RAM, SSD, and Windows requirements. A PC can meet the performance minimum yet fail to launch when TPM is disabled, Windows uses Legacy boot or MBR, or Secure Boot is not enabled and attested.
The important distinction is that performance requirements determine whether the hardware can render the game, while TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot determine whether the PC passes Activision’s security checks. Check both categories before replacing hardware.
Key takeaways
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 requires both TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot on PC; meeting the GPU and CPU requirements alone is not enough.
- TPM 2.0 may already be available as Intel PTT or AMD CPU fTPM, so buying a physical TPM module is not the first troubleshooting step.
- Secure Boot requires UEFI boot mode, a GPT system disk, and Secure Boot enabled in UEFI/BIOS.
- Use tpm.msc or Windows Security to verify TPM 2.0, and use msinfo32 to verify UEFI mode and Secure Boot.
- Activision lists 116 GB of available SSD space, 8 GB of RAM, and 3 GB of video memory as the launch minimums; updates may require additional storage.
- Changing boot mode or partition settings can make Windows fail to start, so back up important files and follow the computer or motherboard manufacturer’s instructions.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 System Requirements, TPM 2.0, and Secure Boot
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 requires TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot in addition to the published CPU, GPU, RAM, storage, and operating-system requirements. A PC can meet the performance minimum and still fail to launch if TPM 2.0 is disabled, Windows boots in Legacy mode, the system disk uses MBR, or Secure Boot is off.
Activision says its PC specifications apply at product launch and may change. The official Black Ops 7 PC system requirements also calls for broadband internet, DirectX 12 compatibility, and an SSD. Intel Arc graphics require Resizable BAR, and Activision currently supports only Intel and AMD processors with AVX.

What are the Black Ops 7 PC system requirements?
The minimum tier is intended to establish compatibility, while Activision describes the recommended tier as suitable for 60 FPS in most situations with all options set to high. Neither tier replaces the separate TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot requirement.
| Requirement | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 64-bit, latest update | Windows 11 64-bit, latest update |
| Processor | AMD Ryzen 5 1400 or Intel Core i5-6600 | AMD Ryzen 5 1600X or Intel Core i7-6700K |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM | 12 GB RAM |
| Graphics | AMD Radeon RX 470; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 or GTX 1060; or Intel Arc A580 | AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT; NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060; or Intel Arc B580 |
| Video memory | 3 GB | 8 GB |
| Storage | SSD with 116 GB available at launch | |
| Other requirements | Broadband internet, DirectX 12 compatibility, and an AVX-capable Intel or AMD processor; Intel Arc requires Resizable BAR | |
According to Activision’s 2026 requirements page, the game needs 116 GB of available SSD storage at launch. Activision warns that mandatory updates can require additional space, so a drive with exactly 116 GB free may not remain sufficient.
Activision also publishes a Competitive/Ultra 4K tier for high-refresh-rate, high-FPS play and 4K rendering. Because Activision says the requirements can be updated, check the live requirements page for the exact current Competitive/Ultra 4K specifications instead of treating the minimum or recommended tier as a 4K target.
Does Black Ops 7 require TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot?
Yes. Activision’s current security guidance states: TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are required to play Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
The requirement is part of PC security and anti-cheat enforcement, not a graphics-quality option.

Activision says TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot help verify PC integrity from startup through gameplay and operate alongside RICOCHET Anti-Cheat. Activision’s RICOCHET Anti-Cheat announcement said noncompliant systems would not be able to play the Black Ops 7 PC beta or the game at launch.
Activision says these security features were added to Call of Duty with the launch of Season 05 in August 2025. The current guidance specifically identifies Black Ops 7 and Warzone as requiring both features. A system that has only TPM 2.0, or only Secure Boot, is still incomplete.

What is TPM 2.0 on a gaming PC?
TPM 2.0 is a Trusted Platform Module security function that can be supplied by firmware or by a discrete motherboard-mounted chip. On supported systems, the firmware implementation is normally the easiest route: Intel systems may use Intel PTT, while AMD systems may use AMD CPU fTPM.
| TPM implementation | What it means | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Intel PTT | Firmware-based TPM function on supported Intel platforms | Look for Intel PTT or Intel Platform Trust Technology in UEFI/BIOS |
| AMD CPU fTPM | Firmware-based TPM function provided by supported AMD platforms | Look for AMD PSP fTPM or AMD CPU fTPM in UEFI/BIOS |
| Discrete TPM | A physical TPM chip connected to a compatible motherboard header | Confirm the exact header pinout, firmware support, and module compatibility |
Activision’s listed CPU guidance for this security requirement is Intel 8th generation or newer with Intel PTT, or AMD Ryzen 2000 series or newer with AMD CPU fTPM. That guidance is not a substitute for checking the exact processor, motherboard, firmware version, or OEM configuration.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteDo I need to buy a TPM 2.0 module?
Usually, buying a TPM module should not be the first step. First determine whether Windows already detects TPM 2.0, then check whether Intel PTT, AMD CPU fTPM, or a similarly named security-device setting is disabled in UEFI/BIOS.
- Check TPM status inside Windows.
- Check the computer or motherboard firmware for a disabled firmware TPM.
- Confirm whether the motherboard supports a discrete TPM module and identify its exact header and compatible part.
- Only then consider a compatible TPM 2.0 module.
A discrete TPM 2.0 module is a motherboard-specific hardware option, not a universal Black Ops 7 upgrade. A module can address the TPM side only; it does not enable Secure Boot, convert Legacy boot to UEFI, change MBR to GPT, or prove that Call of Duty’s attestation check will pass. Activision lists a discrete TPM chip as one possible implementation, while Microsoft notes that TPM support and settings vary by device.
How do I check TPM 2.0 in Windows?
The quickest check is the Windows TPM management console.
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type tpm.msc and press Enter.
- Confirm that the status says the TPM is ready for use.
- Under TPM Manufacturer Information, find Specification Version and confirm that it says 2.0.
Microsoft documents this TPM 2.0 checking and enablement path. If Windows says that a compatible TPM cannot be found, the TPM may be disabled in UEFI/BIOS, the firmware may use a different label, or the computer may not support the feature.

What does Secure Boot require for Black Ops 7?
Black Ops 7’s required Secure Boot configuration has three connected parts: Windows must boot through UEFI rather than Legacy/CSM, the system disk must use GPT rather than MBR, and Secure Boot must be enabled in UEFI/BIOS.
| Check | Required state | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| BIOS Mode | UEFI | Secure Boot is a UEFI firmware feature; Legacy or CSM boot can prevent the required configuration. |
| System disk partition style | GPT | A Windows installation using MBR commonly indicates the older Legacy boot arrangement. |
| Secure Boot State | On | Secure Boot allows trusted, digitally signed startup software to run. |
Microsoft explains that Secure Boot is a security feature that helps prevent malicious software from loading when a Windows PC starts up.
Microsoft also notes that firmware settings can make Secure Boot appear unsupported even when the hardware supports it. Read Microsoft’s Secure Boot documentation alongside the instructions for the specific PC or motherboard.
How do I check Secure Boot in Windows?
Use System Information to inspect the two Windows-side values that matter.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Open the Run dialog with Windows key + R, or search for System Information from Start.
- Run msinfo32.
- In System Summary, find BIOS Mode and confirm it says UEFI.
- Find Secure Boot State and confirm it says On.
If BIOS Mode says Legacy, or Secure Boot State says Off, the PC does not currently meet the required Secure Boot configuration. Do not simply toggle random firmware options: first confirm whether the Windows system disk is GPT and read the manufacturer’s migration instructions.
Why is Secure Boot unavailable or still failing?
Secure Boot may be unavailable because the PC is using Legacy/CSM boot, the Windows system disk is MBR, or Secure Boot is disabled in firmware. Missing default Secure Boot keys, outdated firmware, and manufacturer-specific compatibility problems are additional possibilities, but they require device-specific verification.

- Legacy or CSM mode: Windows must be configured to boot through UEFI before Secure Boot can normally be used.
- MBR system disk: A Legacy installation may need careful conversion to GPT before changing firmware boot mode.
- Secure Boot disabled: Enable it only after confirming that UEFI/GPT requirements are satisfied.
- Missing firmware keys: Some systems may need the manufacturer’s default Secure Boot keys restored.
- Firmware compatibility: An outdated UEFI/BIOS or OEM-specific setting may require the manufacturer’s documented fix.
Back up important files before changing boot mode or partition configuration. Activision warns that incorrect UEFI/BIOS changes can cause boot failures and recommends consulting the hardware manufacturer or a professional. Do not assume that a failed boot after switching from Legacy to UEFI can be fixed by repeatedly changing settings.
What Windows version does Black Ops 7 support?
Activision’s security guidance requires Windows 10 version 22H2 or later and supports Windows 11 in the stated configuration. Activision’s performance page lists Windows 10 64-bit as the minimum operating-system tier and Windows 11 64-bit as the recommended tier.

Windows 10’s lifecycle is a separate issue. Microsoft says free Windows Update software updates, technical assistance, and security fixes for Windows 10 ended on October 14, 2025. That does not by itself change what Activision’s game page lists as a supported operating system, but Windows 11 is the more current recommended platform. See Microsoft’s TPM and Windows security guidance and verify the current Activision requirements before installing or upgrading.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How can I verify Black Ops 7 security compliance?
Activision provides a Call of Duty Secure Attestation Wizard to check whether the PC meets the game’s security requirements and to provide guidance when a setting needs adjustment. The support article identifies version 1.1.0, updated June 26, 2026; download it only from the official Activision TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot support article, because the tool version or download location can change.
A compliant result means the wizard considers the PC compliant with the security requirements for Black Ops 7 and Warzone. The wizard verifies compliance; it does not replace the performance requirements, and installing a TPM module or changing a BIOS setting is not proof of compliance until Windows and the game’s attestation process recognize the result.
What fixes are worth trying?
| Action | Addresses | Risk and limitation | Best use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Run tpm.msc and inspect Windows Security | Verification | Low risk; does not change configuration | First step for every PC |
| Enable Intel PTT or AMD CPU fTPM in UEFI/BIOS | TPM 2.0 | Firmware change; label and location vary | When Windows cannot see a disabled firmware TPM |
| Set UEFI boot, confirm GPT, and enable Secure Boot | Secure Boot | Potential boot failure if changed incorrectly | When msinfo32 reports Legacy or Secure Boot Off |
| Install a compatible discrete TPM 2.0 module | TPM 2.0 only | Motherboard-specific; does not enable Secure Boot | When no usable firmware TPM exists and the board supports the module |
| Run Activision’s Secure Attestation Wizard | Verification and troubleshooting guidance | Does not improve game performance | After configuration changes or when the launcher still rejects the PC |
Driver-updater or PC-cleanup software cannot create TPM 2.0 support, enable Intel PTT or AMD fTPM in firmware, switch Legacy boot to UEFI, convert MBR to GPT, enroll Secure Boot keys, or satisfy secure attestation based on the documented product functions. Treat those tools as unrelated to the direct TPM/Secure Boot fix, not as a solution to a Black Ops 7 security error.

Why can a powerful gaming PC still fail to launch?
Performance eligibility and security eligibility are separate checks. A computer with a qualifying RTX-class GPU, sufficient RAM, and an SSD can still be rejected when TPM 2.0 is missing, Secure Boot is off, Windows boots in Legacy mode, or the system disk uses MBR.
Use this order to isolate the problem:
- Compare the CPU, GPU, RAM, video memory, operating system, DirectX 12 support, and SSD space with Activision’s live requirements.
- Run tpm.msc and confirm that TPM is ready for use and Specification Version is 2.0.
- Run msinfo32 and confirm BIOS Mode is UEFI and Secure Boot State is On.
- If either security check fails, inspect the manufacturer’s UEFI/BIOS instructions before changing settings.
- Run the Secure Attestation Wizard from Activision’s support page.
- If the wizard passes but the game still reports a security error, use Activision support and provide the exact error text rather than buying hardware at random.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Black Ops 7 require TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot?
Yes. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 requires both TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot on PC. A PC that meets the graphics and processor requirements can still fail to launch if either security feature is disabled or not correctly attested.
Do I need to buy a TPM 2.0 module for Black Ops 7?
No. Check Windows with tpm.msc first, then look for Intel PTT, AMD CPU fTPM, or another TPM setting in UEFI/BIOS. A discrete TPM 2.0 module is only a conditional option for a compatible motherboard that lacks a usable firmware TPM.
How do I check whether Secure Boot is enabled for Black Ops 7?
Use msinfo32 and confirm BIOS Mode is UEFI and Secure Boot State is On. The system disk must also use GPT, so do not switch from Legacy to UEFI without first checking the disk configuration and following the manufacturer’s instructions.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Will a TPM 2.0 module fix Secure Boot?
A TPM module addresses TPM only; it does not enable Secure Boot, convert MBR to GPT, or switch Windows from Legacy boot to UEFI. The module must match the motherboard header, pinout, and firmware support.
The Bottom Line
Black Ops 7 on PC needs both the game’s performance specifications and a passing security configuration: TPM 2.0 plus Secure Boot running through UEFI with a GPT system disk. Check tpm.msc and msinfo32 first. Enable Intel PTT or AMD fTPM before considering a motherboard-specific discrete TPM module, and make firmware changes only with a backup and manufacturer guidance.
