Campaign
Set in 1981, the campaign follows an espionage story across locations including East Berlin, Vietnam, Turkey, and Soviet KGB headquarters. Activision describes the game as a direct sequel to the original Call of Duty: Black Ops. Its official description is promotional, so it should not be confused with a critic’s judgment of how well the story works.
Multiplayer
Multiplayer is a core mode, but the cited critic excerpts disagree about its strengths. If it is your main reason to play, the PS5 Metascore alone will not tell you whether its particular approach suits you; the reviews represented on the page do not speak with one voice.

Zombies and Warzone
Zombies is a cooperative mode, distinct from both the campaign and standard multiplayer. Warzone is different again: Activision describes it as a separate free-to-play experience connected to Cold War. That connection does not establish that every launch-era integration or online feature remains available today.
Is Black Ops Cold War worth playing?
The review picture makes the strongest case for players who want several modes in one release, especially those interested in the espionage campaign or co-op Zombies. It is a less straightforward recommendation if you are buying primarily for multiplayer: some critics liked it, while others singled it out as a weak point.
