Its recommended PC tier targets 90 FPS in Multiplayer on High settings, but that is a publisher-stated target—not a guarantee or an independent test. The game is scheduled to launch October 23, 2026, so the announced features and requirements remain subject to change before release.
What PC features has Activision announced?
Activision describes more than 800 customization options across graphics, gameplay, input devices, interface, and other settings. It says the game can configure settings automatically based on a PC’s hardware and supports 1080p, 1440p, and 4K resolutions, as well as standard and ultrawide displays. Those are publisher announcements for a game that has not yet launched, not hands-on findings. Call of Duty Staff’s PC feature announcement lists AMD FSR Redstone, NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, Intel XeSS 3, and Filmic SMAA T2X among the planned image and scaling options.

Enhanced FOV and visibility settings
Enhanced FOV is the clearest PC-exclusive feature announced so far. Activision says it applies physically accurate lens effects near the edges of the display to widen the view there while leaving the center FOV unchanged. That differs from simply widening the entire field of view, though the announcement does not establish how the effect will look or perform in play.
Other announced visibility and image controls include HDR10+ adjustments based on screen brightness, a global sharpening slider, new shading and Filmic SMAA T2X settings, and improved reflections, shadow filtering, occlusion, and screen-space lighting settings. HDR10+ is an announced feature; Activision does not say that an HDR10+ monitor is required.

Combat effects, ray tracing, and benchmarking
Activision says muzzle effects will be dynamically masked around the point of aim. Players will be able to adjust world and weapon depth of field separately, and weapon bloom will be based on barrel position. The announcement also says players may equip a laser attachment to help visualize shot trajectories. These are descriptions of planned mechanics, not verified gameplay results.
Ray tracing is announced for Campaign, Multiplayer, and DMZ. A built-in benchmark is intended to simulate a Multiplayer sequence and report average FPS, CPU and GPU activity, ping, and input latency, followed by breakdowns by zone and suggested settings. Advanced Shader Delivery is described as delivering precompiled shaders on supported PC platforms; the Xbox PC app is necessary only for players who want to use Advanced Shader Delivery on a supported system.

What PC specs does Modern Warfare 4 require?
Activision’s PC requirements page lists desktop specifications for the game and says they are valid for launch but may change. It cautions that laptop GPU models can differ from desktop versions and may not be supported. The page also says additional storage may be needed for mandatory updates.
| Tier | Publisher’s stated target | Operating system and processor | Memory and graphics | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | Minimum specifications needed to play | Windows 10 64-bit; AMD Ryzen 5 1400 or Intel Core i5-6600 | 8 GB RAM; Radeon RX 470, GeForce GTX 970 or GTX 1060, or Intel Arc A580; 3 GB video memory | SSD with 115 GB available |
| Recommended | 90 FPS in Multiplayer on High settings; a publisher target, not a guarantee | Windows 11 64-bit; AMD Ryzen 5 3600 or Intel Core i7-8700 | 16 GB RAM; Radeon RX 6600 XT, GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, or Intel Arc B580; 8 GB video memory | SSD with 115 GB available |
| Ray tracing | High-quality ray tracing at upscaled 4K | Windows 11 64-bit; AMD Ryzen 7 3700X or Intel Core i7-10700K | 32 GB RAM; Radeon RX 9070 XT or GeForce RTX 5070 Ti; 16 GB video memory | SSD with 115 GB available |
Check your PC against the goal you want
Use the tier that matches your aim: the minimum row is Activision’s stated entry point to playing, the recommended row is associated with its 90-FPS Multiplayer target on High settings, and the ray-tracing row is for the publisher’s upscaled-4K ray-tracing target. Compare your CPU, graphics card, RAM, operating system, and free SSD space with that row rather than treating the recommended tier as the minimum. The RTX 3060 Ti is one of the GPUs Activision lists for its recommended target, alongside the RX 6600 XT and Arc B580; the listing alone does not show that an upgrade is necessary for a particular PC.

It currently supports only Intel and AMD processors with AVX, and Intel Arc graphics cards require Resizable BAR. Check your PC’s firmware and operating-system settings, as well as its hardware, before launch; the publisher’s requirements may change.
