Yes—but only through an unofficial homebrew app on a compatible, jailbroken PS5. The project, PSBox Cloud Gaming, streams Xbox Cloud Gaming at a reported 1080p60; the PS5 can then upscale that picture to a 4K output. That is not a native 4K cloud stream, and it does not run Xbox games locally on the PlayStation.
What PSBox Cloud Gaming does
PSBox Cloud Gaming is a community-made client for Microsoft’s cloud gaming service. It brings a catalog browser and streaming client to a homebrew-enabled PS5. The games still run in the cloud; the console receives and displays the stream. The project also lists a “Your games” area and free-to-play titles, though availability and access depend on Microsoft’s service and account requirements. See the PSBox project repository for its current claims and release details.

This is not an official PlayStation or Xbox app. The project says it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Sony or Microsoft. It also warns that Microsoft may change or block the service interfaces the client relies on.

What “upscale to 4K” means here
The project describes streaming at 1080p60, with the PS5 GPU able to enlarge the image to a 4K output using AMD FSR 1 or Anime4K. Upscaling changes the output resolution; it does not add the source detail of a native 4K stream. The 1080p60 figure is a project specification reported by the project and by Tom’s Hardware, not an independent performance benchmark.
What you need—and what compatibility means
- A PS5 that can run homebrew and directory-style apps, plus a compatible loader. The project gives ShadowMountPlus as an example.
- A Microsoft account. The project says Game Pass Ultimate is needed for most of the catalog; account access and game availability are governed by Microsoft’s service.
- A network connection suitable for streaming. The project reports automatic reconnection after a brief interruption, but that feature is not an independent stability test.
Do not treat “the app was tested on a PS5” and “your PS5 can be jailbroken” as the same compatibility claim. Developer RafaelNGP said the app had been tested on one console running firmware 13.60. Separately, Ars Technica reported on September 30, 2026, that the Relapse exploit worked on firmware versions up to 13.6 and that firmware 14.00.00 had been released in mid-September. Those exploit details do not establish that PSBox works on every console covered by the exploit or that newer firmware can be jailbroken. Check current project and exploit documentation for your exact console and firmware; this article is not a jailbreak or firmware-change guide.

Cloud gaming is separate from Xbox Remote Play
PSBox also lists Xbox Remote Play, which streams from an Xbox the user owns. That is different from Xbox Cloud Gaming, where the game runs on Microsoft’s cloud service. The repository lists support for up to four DualSense controllers, but this is a project feature claim rather than independently verified compatibility across games and setups.
Early reports mention streaming and controller problems
Early user feedback has included macroblocking, parts of the image glitching or turning pink, and missing DualSense vibration. These are reports, not controlled test results, and could vary with software version or network conditions. In the developer discussion, the maintainer suggested lost network packets as a possible cause of a video issue and said a future version should address it; that explanation and intention do not verify the root cause or confirm a fix. The reports are documented in the developer announcement and discussion and summarized by Tom’s Hardware.

Installation and account cautions
The project README describes installing a release package by placing its app directory in the PS5 homebrew location and mounting it through a compatible loader, then signing in with the device code shown on the TV. Exact package and setup instructions can change, so use the current repository README and release notes rather than relying on an older walkthrough. The README also says updates can be applied in the app or by replacing its folder manually. It warns users not to share account.json, which stores sign-in information.
