Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile launched worldwide on Android and iOS on March 21, 2024. The “two years” refers to the approximate gap between its March 2022 announcement and global release—not a claim that the game is newly arriving now. Activision’s launch announcement described a free-to-play mobile Warzone experience with Battle Royale, Resurgence, Multiplayer, and progression connected to other Call of Duty titles.
What launched on Android?
Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is a separate game from the existing Call of Duty: Mobile app. It brought Warzone-branded Battle Royale and Resurgence, plus Multiplayer playlists, to phones. It was free to download at launch; that does not mean every optional in-game item was free.
The mobile game was built as its own version of Warzone, not as an identical copy of the console and PC game. Its controls, performance demands, modes, and available content are specific to mobile.
If you are looking for the other Activision mobile shooter, its separate Google Play listing is Call of Duty: Mobile.

Why was it described as a two-year wait?
The game was first announced in March 2022, went through a limited-release testing period, and then received a worldwide launch date of February 28, 2024. Global availability followed on March 21, 2024. That makes “two years” a reasonable shorthand for the announcement-to-launch interval, rather than an exact two-year countdown. The launch event, Operation: Day Zero, began the following day, March 22.
Activision’s pre-launch announcement described the testing period and the planned global release.
Maps and modes available at launch
Verdansk Battle Royale
Verdansk was the large-scale Battle Royale option. Activision’s launch materials positioned it as the game’s main map; earlier limited-release material referenced 120-player matches. That figure describes the earlier test context, not a guarantee that every launch playlist—or any later playlist—used the same player count.

Rebirth Island Resurgence
Rebirth Island arrived for Resurgence, a faster, more aggressive format on a smaller map than the traditional Verdansk Battle Royale experience.
Multiplayer playlists
Launch Multiplayer included maps such as Shipment and Shoot House, alongside rotating modes and playlists. The named maps were not a promise that each one would be available in every mode or at all times. Activision’s launch announcement outlines the launch map and mode offering.
What progress carried between mobile, Warzone, and Modern Warfare III?
Activision said players could share player XP, weapon progression, and Battle Pass progression across Warzone Mobile, Call of Duty: Warzone, and Modern Warfare III, along with certain connected content and rewards. This was shared progression—not a promise that mobile and console or PC had identical gameplay, playlists, or access to every item.

To connect progress, sign in with the correct Activision account. Activision’s Season 3 launch recap instructed players to link their Activision Account ID when first entering the game. If progress does not appear, check that the same account is being used and allow synchronization to complete. Also check whether the item or progression in question is supported across the connected title or season; not every cosmetic, bundle, or purchase is guaranteed to transfer everywhere.
Android requirements and performance limits
Activision’s November 2022 limited-release FAQ listed an Android GPU of Adreno 618 or better and at least 6 GB of RAM. Those were requirements for the limited-release build and were subject to change during development; they should not be treated as definitive current requirements or a guarantee of smooth play.

Compatibility and performance can depend on the specific GPU and chipset, available memory, Android version, storage, network, graphics settings, and how well the phone manages heat over time. An Adreno GPU requirement should not be reduced to a blanket Snapdragon-chipset rule.

Some players reported heat, battery drain, crashes, and frame-rate problems in early coverage. Those reports are not controlled device tests and do not establish permanent battery damage. Demanding 3D games can draw substantial power and warm a phone; stop playing if your device becomes abnormally hot.

- Start with lower graphics settings if performance is uneven, and avoid extended play while the phone is already hot.

Controls and how Android players downloaded it
The launch offered customizable touchscreen controls as well as Bluetooth controller support. Activision also highlighted accessories such as Backbone One. A controller may suit players who find touchscreen aiming uncomfortable, while touch remains an option without extra hardware. Specific matchmaking or input-balancing rules should not be assumed from controller support alone.
For the 2024 Android release, Activision directed players to Google Play; its launch information is available on the official Call of Duty page, and the Google Play editorial page documents the Android route. Avoid unofficial APK mirrors: an unverified installer can expose your device or account to malware and other security risks.

If the game does not appear in Google Play, possible explanations include device or Android-version incompatibility, regional availability, or a change to the listing or support status since launch. The 2024 launch sources do not establish its present-day availability, current requirements, or support status. Check official Activision and Google Play information rather than assuming an old listing or APK is current.
Operation: Day Zero was a launch-time event
Operation: Day Zero began on March 22, 2024, one day after the global launch. Activision described six contested zones—five on Verdansk and one covering Rebirth Island. Players earned Event Points through actions such as opening supply boxes, eliminating enemies, completing contracts, using killstreaks, landing headshots, and buying items at Buy Stations.
The event’s rewards were designed to work across Warzone Mobile, Warzone, and Modern Warfare III. Day Zero was a limited-time launch event, not a feature to assume is still active. Details appeared in Activision’s event announcement.
Quick Recap
Who was the launch a good fit for?
- Try it if: you wanted Warzone maps and modes on a phone, already played connected Call of Duty titles, or preferred a choice between large Battle Royale matches and faster Resurgence.
- Think about your device first if: it is near the dated test baseline, has little free storage, or struggles with sustained gaming heat. Meeting an old minimum does not promise comfortable performance.
- Check before downloading today if: you need confirmation of current regional availability, support, compatibility, or the latest requirements. The verified date and feature details here concern the 2024 launch.
