Yes—the launch was real. Activision released Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile worldwide on iPhone and iPad on March 21, 2024. But the game was removed from Apple’s App Store in May 2025, and its servers shut down on April 17, 2026. It can no longer be downloaded as a new app or played online.
What launched on iPhone and iPad?
Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile received its worldwide release on March 21, 2024, for iPhone, iPad, and Android. This followed an earlier limited-release period in selected markets. The global launch was the point at which Activision made the game broadly available, rather than the beginning of the project itself.
Activision’s worldwide launch announcement described the game as a mobile version of Warzone featuring battle royale and multiplayer modes.
What was Warzone Mobile?
The game was designed to bring the Call of Duty: Warzone experience to mobile devices, including large-scale battle royale matches and traditional multiplayer. It was more closely tied to the main Warzone ecosystem than to the separate Call of Duty: Mobile app.

Players could connect the game to their Activision or Call of Duty account and use shared progression with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and Call of Duty: Warzone. This included progression connected to weapons and Battle Pass-related systems, although some content and store items remained specific to the mobile game.
Shared progression did not mean cross-platform multiplayer. Account and progression integration should not be confused with playing directly against console or PC users.

Could people really download it on iPhone and iPad?
Yes. During its active service period, Activision’s launch guidance directed iOS players—including people who had used the limited-release version—to download the worldwide-release build through Apple’s App Store. The game was a genuine iPhone and iPad release, not merely a browser service or announcement.
That is no longer true for new users. Activision says Warzone Mobile was removed from the Apple App Store and Google Play in May 2025, after which it received no further updates.

Launch-era iPhone and iPad requirements
These were historical requirements for the 2024 launch, not current requirements for a playable service:
- iOS 16 or later
- At least 3 GB of RAM
- iPhone 8 excluded, despite broader early-generation wording in some materials
Activision advised players to check the App Store listing because compatibility could change by device and over time. Meeting the operating-system requirement alone did not guarantee that every iPhone or iPad model was supported.

For clarity, these specifications must not be confused with the requirements for Call of Duty: Mobile, which is a different game. Apple’s current listing for that separate app states iOS/iPadOS 15 or later: Call of Duty: Mobile on the App Store.

Historically, iPhone and iPad users could:
- Open the App Store.
- Search for Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile.
- Download the worldwide-release version.
- Sign in with the Activision or Call of Duty account used for progression.
- Allow the game to download additional resources after installation.
Those steps are no longer usable in 2026. Finding an old installation, restoring a device backup, or locating an archived IPA does not restore the game’s online service.

What happened to Warzone Mobile?

Activision summarizes the store removal as occurring in May 2025 rather than identifying one universally applicable removal day. Its service-changes notice confirms both the delisting and the April 17, 2026 server shutdown.
Can you play it now?
No. As of August 18, 2026, new users cannot download Warzone Mobile from the App Store, and existing installations cannot connect to the game after the server shutdown. An Activision account can preserve account information and progression history where applicable, but it cannot bring the discontinued servers back online.
Readers searching Apple’s store may instead find Call of Duty: Mobile. That app remains listed as a separate free-to-download title with optional in-app purchases, but it is not a renamed version, sequel, or replacement build of Warzone Mobile. It does not restore Warzone Mobile progression or service.
The bottom line
The headline “Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile lands on iPhone and iPad” was accurate as a March 2024 launch story. It is misleading as current advice. The game genuinely launched, supported iPhone and iPad during its active period, and offered Warzone-style modes with connected progression—but Activision delisted it in May 2025 and shut it down on April 17, 2026. For a currently listed mobile Call of Duty game, use the official Call of Duty: Mobile App Store listing, not archived Warzone Mobile installers.
