If Call of Duty: Warzone will not launch, crashes, freezes, or runs poorly on Windows 11, work through the checks below in order. Start with Activision’s current issue tracker, then check Windows, graphics drivers, shaders, and game files. These steps address common causes; no single fix is guaranteed for every PC.
Check whether Activision already knows about the problem
Before changing your PC, check Activision’s Warzone known-issues tracker. It was checked on September 25, 2026, and may change. If your issue is not listed, Activision provides a Warzone Bug Report form. For a PC crash, use its Call of Duty PC Crash Report.
Check Windows support and update status
Activision lists Windows 10 and Windows 11 as supported and recommends keeping Windows current. Windows 7 and 8 are not supported. Its PC troubleshooting guide says the latest Windows 11 version greatly improves NVIDIA stability, but does not specify a build number for that statement.
- Open Settings → Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates and install available updates.
- Restart the PC if Windows requests it, then test Warzone again.
Update the driver for your exact graphics card
For graphics problems, Activision’s troubleshooting guide lists the following driver versions on its checked page. These version numbers can change; confirm the package for your exact GPU and Windows installation with its manufacturer before installing. NVIDIA desktop, notebook, and workstation drivers are distinct packages.

Identify your GPU model before downloading a driver. Do not assume that a desktop driver is suitable for a notebook or workstation card, or that a listed version remains the current recommendation.
Let shader preloading finish
Activision Support says, “Shader Preloading is an important part of the first boot process.” When shaders are compiling, stay at the Main Menu until preloading is complete. Navigating away from the Main Menu interrupts it and can lead to performance problems. If the game appears stuck, allow the process to finish before repeatedly restarting or changing settings.

Repair Warzone files in the launcher you use
Choose the repair method for the platform where Warzone is installed. Activision recommends these launcher-specific checks in its PC troubleshooting guide.
Battle.net
- Open Battle.net and select Call of Duty.
- Open the options menu and choose Scan and Repair.
- Allow the scan and any repair to complete, then try launching the game.
Steam
- Open your Steam Library and right-click Call of Duty.
- Choose Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files.
- Wait for verification to finish. Close programs that may interfere with Steam before testing the game again.
Xbox app on PC: only for the listed 0x error
For the specific Xbox-on-PC 0x error described in Activision’s tracker, open Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps → Call of Duty → Advanced options, select Terminate, then select Repair. Activision says to reinstall if that error persists. This is a targeted step for that platform and reported error, not a general repair procedure for every Warzone problem.

Test for software conflicts without broadly disabling protection
Activision identifies NZXT CAM, MSI Afterburner, and Razer Cortex as possible conflicts. Overlay, monitoring, and peripheral software can also be worth isolating when the game fails to launch or crashes. Close one likely conflicting app at a time and test Warzone so you can identify whether it matters.
- If you use Razer Synapse, Activision advises updating its driver.
- If basic isolation does not help, Activision suggests a clean boot with only essential programs running.
- If Warzone will not start and you previously disabled ASLR in Windows, re-enable it.
Activision also suggests adding the entire Warzone folder to your antivirus exception list when antivirus interference is suspected. Treat that as a targeted diagnostic step, not a reason to turn off antivirus protection broadly. If the exception does not help, reassess and remove it rather than leaving an unnecessary exclusion in place.

Check TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot only if the game reports a compliance problem
Activision states that TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are required to play Warzone, and says Windows 11 systems likely already have both enabled. If the game displays a related notice, follow Activision’s Secure Attestation Wizard and security guidance to check compliance. You can also enter tpm.msc in Windows Search to view TPM status.
Do not make firmware changes as a routine troubleshooting step. BIOS/UEFI menus differ by motherboard maker, and Activision warns that incorrect settings can cause problems, including a PC failing to boot. Consult your motherboard manufacturer’s instructions or seek qualified support before changing firmware settings.

Report the issue if the relevant checks do not resolve it
If Warzone still crashes, send Activision a PC Crash Report. For an issue that is not on the known-issues tracker, use the Warzone Bug Report form. Include useful diagnostic details such as the exact error message, launcher, GPU model and driver version, Windows version, and steps already tried. These details can make your report clearer; Activision’s pages do not establish them as a required submission checklist.
