Yes. You can collect donations during a 24/7 YouTube livestream without Super Chat, but the right method depends on who receives the money. YouTube Giving provides a Donate button for eligible nonprofit fundraisers. For personal creator support, you can direct viewers to an external payment destination using a clickable YouTube link placement. YouTube does not handle or endorse that external payment just because you link to it.

YouTube Giving is not the documented route for personal creator tips. Conversely, an external link does not make a payment a YouTube Giving donation or establish that YouTube processes it.
Who can use YouTube Giving?
YouTube’s current eligibility guidance says a channel needs to be based in a supported location, have at least 10,000 subscribers, be in the YouTube Partner Program, and not be designated as made for kids. YouTube notes that some channels may appear to have access outside these requirements, so treat them as the standard eligibility criteria rather than a claim that exceptions are impossible. Check the YouTube Giving FAQs for current availability and requirements.
The fundraiser must also be for an eligible nonprofit. YouTube’s guidance says donations made through YouTube Giving are non-refundable; its statement that the full contribution goes to the nonprofit applies to this route, not to payments made through an external service.

Set up a YouTube Giving fundraiser on a livestream
- Check eligibility and recipient. Confirm that the channel and nonprofit qualify under YouTube Giving’s current rules.
- Add the fundraiser to the scheduled live stream in YouTube Studio. Use YouTube’s fundraiser controls for the stream rather than relying on a general channel donation link.
- Choose whether to use live chat. If live chat is enabled, viewers can see the Donate button in chat. If chat is not enabled, YouTube says the button appears next to or below the stream.
- Confirm the fundraiser has started and the stream is not designated made for kids. These are among the conditions YouTube identifies when the Donate button does not appear.
- Check the live view on the devices and formats your viewers use. YouTube notes that mobile viewers may need portrait orientation to see live chat. Verify that the Donate control is visible after setup rather than assuming it will appear in every stream configuration.
YouTube calls the live-chat charity feature Live Chat Donations: “Super Chat for Good is now Live Chat Donations.” When Live Chat Donations are enabled, Super Chat and Super Stickers are turned off for that stream. The donation button and feature behavior are documented for live-stream use, but YouTube does not promise that the control will remain available without interruption throughout a 24/7 broadcast. Use an external link for personal creator support
If viewers are supporting you personally, choose a payment destination whose terms and availability suit your country and intended use. YouTube’s official materials do not establish which provider is best or verify any provider’s fees, payout schedule, tax handling, or partner program. Check those details with the provider before sharing its link.

Put the link where viewers can click it
- Channel profile: Profile links are clickable. YouTube allows up to 14 channel profile links, with the first featured prominently. See Manage your YouTube channel’s profile.
- Horizontal livestream: URLs in live chat and channel descriptions are clickable under YouTube’s link guidance.
- Vertical live feed in the mobile app: URLs in live chat and channel descriptions are not clickable in this context. Tell viewers where to find the profile link instead, or test another supported placement for your audience.
- Long-form comments and descriptions: Clickable external links require access to advanced features.
Before going live, test the link from the device and stream format your audience is likely to use. YouTube’s sharing links guidance describes placement behavior, while its external links policy applies across YouTube. Links directing viewers to content that violates YouTube policies are not allowed.

A nonstop broadcast can make a donation route visible for long periods, but visibility is not a guarantee that a control or link will be available in every viewing context. For YouTube Giving, verify the fundraiser is active and the Donate button appears in the live view. For an external route, test the link in the relevant placement, stream orientation, and device. A 24/7 schedule does not remove eligibility, link-clickability, or policy requirements.

Troubleshooting donation visibility
- YouTube Giving Donate button is missing: Check that the fundraiser has started, the content is not designated made for kids, and the stream has the intended live-chat setting. Review it in the live view; YouTube lists timing, made-for-kids settings, and mobile orientation among reasons the control may not appear.
- Viewers cannot open an external link: Check whether they are watching a horizontal stream or the mobile app’s vertical live feed. Links in chat and channel descriptions are not clickable in the latter. Direct viewers to a clickable profile link when appropriate.
- A link in a long-form description or comment is not clickable: Confirm the channel has advanced features access, which YouTube requires for clickable external links in those placements.
- A payment provider is unavailable or the donation does not arrive: YouTube’s link guidance does not establish provider coverage, fees, payout timing, or tax handling. Consult the provider’s current terms and support rather than treating an external payment as a YouTube Giving transaction.
- Super Chat is unavailable during a charity stream: This is expected when Live Chat Donations are enabled; YouTube turns off Super Chat and Super Stickers for that stream.
