Yes—some newer games list the GeForce GTX 1650 as a minimum GPU, but that does not guarantee smooth performance or high settings. Whether it works for you depends on the specific game, your PC’s other components, the GTX 1650 variant, and the resolution and settings you want to use.
What “minimum requirements” mean
A game’s minimum specification is its published baseline for supported hardware; it is not a promise of a particular frame rate or visual quality. A recommended GPU generally indicates more performance headroom. Check the requirements for each game rather than treating the GTX 1650 as a universal pass or fail.
Example: Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Steam’s listing names a GeForce GTX 1650 with 4GB of VRAM among the minimum GPUs for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Its recommended GPU list names the RTX 3060 Ti 8GB, RX 6700 XT 12GB, or Intel Arc B580 12GB (REBAR ON). The minimum listing also calls for Windows 10/11, an Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB of system memory, DirectX 12, and 115GB of available storage; the game must be installed on an SSD. What to expect in demanding games
The GTX 1650 has 4GB of VRAM. That capacity can be a constraint in demanding games, especially when using higher graphics settings. There is no reliable, universal FPS figure to give for “the latest games.” A useful frame-rate comparison needs to identify the exact card variant, CPU, memory configuration, resolution, graphics settings, and test method. Without a consistent set of such results, a single number would be misleading.

Before installing a game—or deciding whether the card is sufficient—check these details against that game’s current requirements:

- Exact game: Look up its current minimum and recommended specifications. A GTX 1650 may meet one game’s minimum and fall short of another’s.
- Card variant: Identify whether you have a desktop GTX 1650, a laptop version, or a Max-Q implementation. Performance can vary with implementation and power limits; the available sources do not quantify the differences.
- CPU and system memory: Meeting the GPU requirement alone does not establish that the entire PC meets the game’s requirements. For example, Steam lists 16GB RAM and specific CPU baselines for Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
- Resolution and settings: Decide what level of detail and smoothness is acceptable. If performance is poor, reduce demanding settings and test again rather than assuming the card will deliver a specific frame rate.
- Storage: Check capacity and drive requirements. Steam’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows listing specifies 115GB available and an SSD installation.
Does the GTX 1650 still receive driver updates?
NVIDIA classifies the GTX 1650 as part of its Turing-based GeForce GTX 16 Series. In a support notice updated July 31, 2025, NVIDIA said: “Game Ready Driver updates, including performance enhancements, new features, and bug fixes, will be available for systems utilizing Turing, Ampere, Ada, and Blackwell-series GPUs.” The security-only transition described in the notice applies to Maxwell, Pascal, and Volta—not Turing. Base the decision on the games you actually play and the experience you expect. If your games list the card as a minimum and you are comfortable adjusting settings, it may remain usable for those titles. If a game’s requirements exceed your system or its performance is unsatisfactory at your chosen settings, consider an upgrade—but choose one only after comparing the requirements of your games and your budget.
