Yes, in some constructed formats—but only if you mean repeated copies of Cid, Timeless Artificer, and only when that card is legal in the format. Its card text lets you include any number with that exact name, but the exception does not waive other format rules. Commander, in particular, does not allow a deck of repeated Cids.
Which Cid card can you play more than four times?
The exception belongs to Cid, Timeless Artificer. Its text says, “A deck can have any number of cards named Cid, Timeless Artificer.” Wizards of the Coast’s FINAL FANTASY release notes clarify that this lets you ignore the usual four-copy limit in constructed play, but “doesn’t let you ignore format legality.”
That wording applies to the exact card name, not to every card depicting Cid. It does not authorize extra copies of Cid, Freeflier Pilot or another Cid card.
Can you build a Cid-only deck in Commander?
No—not by filling it with repeated copies of Cid, Timeless Artificer. Wizards describes Commander decks as “99 cards + 1 commander card” on its Commander format page. The any-number text does not override Commander’s deck-building rules, so it is not a route to a deck made entirely of duplicate Cids.

What to check before playing
- Identify the exact card. The repeat-copy text is on Cid, Timeless Artificer, not on Cid cards generally.
- Check the format. Confirm that the card is legal in the format you intend to play, and review that format’s current rules and banned list.
- Apply the exception only as written. In a constructed format where the card is legal, you can exceed the usual four-copy limit for Cid, Timeless Artificer. Other deck requirements still apply.
Set and product labels do not settle every card’s legality. Wizards’ FINAL FANTASY collecting overview lists FIN as Standard legal and FIC/FCA as Commander, Legacy, and Vintage legal, while noting that individual cards may also be legal in formats where they were already available. Check the current legality listing for the specific card and format rather than relying on a set label alone.
