No. A Microsoft account does not replace your Roblox username and password. You can use your Microsoft account to access the Microsoft Store or an Xbox profile, and link that Xbox profile to Roblox, but you still sign in to the Roblox account itself with Roblox credentials.
How the two accounts work together
Your Microsoft account and Roblox account are separate. On Windows, the Microsoft account is used for Microsoft Store access and includes an Xbox profile. On Xbox, the profile is identified by its Gamertag. Roblox can associate your Roblox account with that Xbox profile, but your Roblox progress, friends, Robux and inventory remain tied to the Roblox account. Roblox’s Microsoft Store app guidance and its Xbox sign-in instructions describe these as distinct steps.

Sign in on a Windows PC using the Microsoft Store app
Roblox’s current Store instructions distinguish the newer app, named Roblox – Windows, from the older app, named Roblox. The Microsoft account you use to install or access the app is not your Roblox login.
- Open the Microsoft Store and install Roblox – Windows if you want the newer app.
- Open the app and enter the username and password for your Roblox account.
- Complete the one-time Xbox profile linking step if the app prompts you to connect it.
After installing the newer app, Roblox says to sign back in with your usual Roblox username and password. See Roblox’s instructions for the new Microsoft Store app.

Sign in on Xbox
- Make sure the Xbox profile you want to use is signed in. If the wrong profile is active, use the Gamertag option to switch profiles.
- Open Roblox on Xbox and choose Sign In to connect an existing Roblox account to the active Xbox profile.
- Enter your Roblox account credentials when prompted.
Roblox accounts can be linked to only one Xbox Gamertag, and Roblox’s linking guidance says the age settings on the Xbox and Roblox accounts should match. A child Xbox account may also need permission from a parent through the Xbox Family account before it can launch Roblox. If Roblox will not let you sign in
- Microsoft email or password is rejected: Enter the username and password for the Roblox account instead. If you have forgotten the Roblox password, use Roblox’s password reset or account recovery route. Facebook Connect is not available through Xbox; use the Roblox account password. See Roblox’s Xbox login troubleshooting steps.
- The wrong Xbox account is linked: Check which Gamertag is active and confirm that the Roblox account is not already linked to another Gamertag. Check that the age settings match, too. Roblox’s linking guide covers these conditions.
- Xbox displays Error 901: Roblox recommends signing in to Roblox on another device connected to the same home network, then trying Xbox again. A moderated Roblox account can also prevent access. Follow the Error 901 guidance.
- You want to sign in without typing the password on another device: Roblox Quick Login can use a one-time code generated on the device being signed in and approved from a device where you are already logged in. The code expires after five minutes; review the device and access details before approving it. Quick Login is not available on Xbox. See Roblox Quick Login.
