Technically, yes—but it is not a dependable set-and-forget solution. PRISM Live Studio can keep broadcasting from an Android phone in the background after you enable “Allow display over other apps.” YouTube has no maximum live-stream duration, but a phone can still disconnect because of network, device, heat, or policy problems. And a live broadcast lasting more than 12 hours may not be archived by YouTube.
What PRISM’s background setting does—and does not do
PRISM Live Studio’s Android guide says the app can continue broadcasting while running in the background, such as when you answer a call or open another app. To allow that, open Android Settings, find PRISM Live Studio’s app permissions, and enable Allow display over other apps. The exact route to app permissions can vary by Android version and phone manufacturer.
This permission lets PRISM broadcast while you use another app; it is not a promise that streaming will continue with the screen off or that any phone can run uninterrupted for 24 hours. Screen-off behavior, power management, heat, and sustained performance can differ by device. Check how your own phone behaves rather than assuming background permission covers those cases.
Can YouTube keep a 24-hour stream live and save it?
PRISM says there is no maximum time limit for streaming to YouTube, so a 24-hour broadcast is technically possible. That answers how long a stream may run—not whether it will remain connected or whether YouTube will retain a complete replay.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
PRISM says YouTube auto-archiving is supported only for streams under 12 hours and warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be archived at all. If keeping a replay matters, consider ending and restarting the broadcast at intervals below that threshold, and check current PRISM and YouTube guidance before relying on an archive. Do not assume a single 24-hour stream will produce a complete saved video.
Check whether your channel can stream from Android
YouTube’s mobile-live requirements for Android include all of the following:
Rank #2
- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
- Your channel is verified.
- Your channel has at least 50 subscribers.
- There have been no live-streaming restrictions on the channel in the preceding 90 days.
- Live streaming is enabled, and your device runs Android 8.0 or later.
YouTube says first-time activation may take up to 24 hours. Subscriber-count safeguards can also limit the mobile-live audience reach of smaller channels. Meeting these conditions makes mobile streaming eligible; it does not guarantee a stable or uninterrupted broadcast.
How to make a phone-based test more useful
- Confirm eligibility first. Check YouTube mobile live access and allow time for first-time activation if needed.
- Enable PRISM’s background permission. In Android Settings, enable Allow display over other apps for PRISM Live Studio.
- Test the exact setup. Use the phone, PRISM app version, connection, power arrangement, and account you intend to use. Check whether the broadcast continues when you switch apps and whether your specific phone behaves as needed with its screen off.
- Watch the stream status. Confirm that YouTube still reports the broadcast as live; do not treat a successful start as proof it will stay up.
- Plan how to respond to an interruption. Be able to see that the stream ended and restart it. If an archive matters, plan shorter sessions rather than relying on a replay from a stream over 12 hours.
For an extended session, use a compatible power adapter and cable, and pay attention to heat. A cooling accessory may help manage heat, but neither it nor a power setup guarantees continuity; charging behavior and accessory compatibility depend on the phone.

Why a PRISM stream may end
PRISM identifies several possible causes: unstable or insufficient network bandwidth, device processing problems, platform policy enforcement, and platform time limits. It also advises reducing heat and closing other apps that compete for CPU and memory.
- The broadcast drops or becomes unstable: Check the connection for instability or insufficient bandwidth. A phone switching networks or losing a steady connection can interrupt the stream.
- The phone gets hot or struggles: Close other apps, reduce heat generation, and check whether the phone is maintaining the broadcast under sustained load.
- The stream ends despite a working connection: Check PRISM and YouTube’s reported status and any policy notice. A network fix will not resolve a policy restriction.
- The live stream worked, but no replay appears: A broadcast exceeding 12 hours may not be archived. Live duration and replay availability are separate outcomes.
PRISM monitors whether the destination platform still reports the stream as on air, but monitoring is not an uptime guarantee. The guidance does not establish a phone configuration that can be left unattended and trusted to recover reliably.

Phone app or encoder for continuous streaming?
PRISM on Android is portable and straightforward to start, but a phone-based setup still depends on that device’s power, connection, heat, and performance. YouTube treats encoder streaming as a separate workflow and recommends encoders for formats such as gameplay and overlays; it also advises encoder users to monitor stream quality continuously. An encoder is a different operating approach, not a guarantee of uninterrupted service.
If continuous operation matters, test the full setup and make sure someone or something can detect an interruption and respond. Neither the phone guidance nor YouTube’s encoder guidance promises unattended 24/7 uptime.
