Yes—but the headline is misleading. GeForce NOW supports Android streaming at up to 2560×1440 and 120fps for subscribers on NVIDIA’s required Ultimate tier. This is not a Galaxy S24-exclusive feature: NVIDIA announced the Android capability on January 25, 2024. The base Galaxy S24 has a 120Hz display but only an FHD+ panel, while the Galaxy S24+ and S24 Ultra have QHD+ screens that are a better match for a 1440p stream.
What the Galaxy S24 actually supports
The Galaxy S24 family is technically suitable for high-frame-rate cloud gaming because all three models support adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz. But refresh rate and display resolution are different specifications. A 120Hz screen can show a 120fps stream; it does not make an FHD+ screen a native 1440p display.

GeForce NOW renders the game on a remote NVIDIA server and sends the Galaxy phone a compressed video stream. The S24 is decoding and displaying that stream rather than locally rendering the PC game at 1440p.

| Galaxy S24 | FHD+ | Up to 120Hz | Can show a 120fps stream, but a 1440p stream is downscaled to the phone’s FHD+ panel. |
| Galaxy S24+ | QHD+ | Up to 120Hz | Can make better use of the detail in a 1440p stream. |
| Galaxy S24 Ultra | QHD+ | Up to 120Hz | The strongest S24-family fit for high-resolution mobile streaming. |
Samsung lists the display specifications for the Galaxy S24 series. The practical conclusion is that 1440p may improve the received image before scaling on the base S24, but it is not native QHD detail on that handset.

This was an Android GeForce NOW update, not an S24 feature
NVIDIA announced support for Android streaming at up to 1440p and 120fps on January 25, 2024. Samsung announced the S24 family during the same launch period with 120Hz displays across the range, which likely helped create the impression of an S24-specific gaming feature.
There is no special S24-only switch that unlocks the capability. Access depends on the GeForce NOW app, NVIDIA’s current device and account eligibility rules, the membership tier, the phone’s refresh-rate mode, and the quality of the connection.
Requirements for 1440p at 120fps
- GeForce NOW Ultimate: NVIDIA’s current Android requirements say Ultimate is required for 1440p and 120fps streaming. Plan names and availability can vary by market, so check the live membership page before subscribing.
- A 120Hz display mode: NVIDIA requires a phone or tablet with a 120Hz display for 120fps streaming.
- At least 35 Mbps: NVIDIA lists 35 Mbps for the 1440p/120fps target. That is a service requirement, not a guarantee of stable gameplay.
- Low latency: NVIDIA recommends latency below 80ms to an NVIDIA data center.
- A suitable connection: NVIDIA recommends 5GHz Wi-Fi or a wired connection where practical.
- A physical controller: NVIDIA supports controllers such as Xbox and PlayStation gamepads and does not recommend the virtual gamepad for long-term play.
- Native Android mode: Use the phone’s normal Android interface if 120fps is important. DeX has a separate limitation explained below.
The current NVIDIA system requirements also specify Android 7.0 or later, OpenGL ES 2.0 or higher, and at least 1GB of available memory. Those baseline requirements do not by themselves guarantee that every Android device will expose every streaming option.
How to enable GeForce NOW 1440p/120fps on a Galaxy S24
- Install or update the official GeForce NOW Android app.
- Sign in with an account that has the required Ultimate membership.
- On the phone, open Settings → Display → Motion smoothness and select Adaptive. Samsung’s exact label or menu placement can differ by One UI version and region; search Settings for “Motion smoothness” if necessary.
- Launch GeForce NOW in native Android mode.
- Open Settings → Streaming Quality.
- Select Custom if you want to control the stream manually.
- Choose 2560×1440 and 120fps if those options are offered to your account and device.
- Launch a game supported by GeForce NOW and use the in-session statistics overlay, where available, to check stream resolution, frame rate, latency, and network behavior.
NVIDIA says Balanced mode automatically adjusts streaming quality based on available bandwidth, while Custom mode lets users override the streaming resolution. These are stream-output settings, not local PC-game graphics settings: the game still runs in NVIDIA’s data center.

If 120fps does not appear
First, quit GeForce NOW completely. Then enable the phone’s 120Hz mode and relaunch the app. NVIDIA specifically recommends this sequence for Android devices that do not expose the 120fps option even though they have a 120Hz display.
If the option is still missing, check these possibilities:
- The phone is currently operating at 60Hz.
- The account does not have Ultimate.
- The app needs updating, or the current app/device build is not exposing the feature.
- GeForce NOW is running in DeX or another Android desktop mode.
- Custom streaming settings have not been selected.
- Network conditions or NVIDIA’s current eligibility rules are limiting the session.
NVIDIA notes that Android experiences can vary between devices. Its 120fps troubleshooting guidance is the best reference if the setting remains unavailable.

NVIDIA’s DeX setup supports Galaxy S phones with an external display and recommends an externally powered USB-C hub or dock for the best setup. Its documentation says 1440p must be selected manually and refers to the native Android app version 6.11 or later for the documented configuration. However, connecting the S24 to a 120Hz or 144Hz monitor does not bypass the DeX frame-rate restriction.
Use native phone mode for the 1440p/120fps claim. Treat DeX as a separate, potentially lower-frame-rate desktop setup.
Why 35 Mbps is not enough by itself
A speed test showing 35 Mbps or more only addresses one part of cloud gaming. Wi-Fi congestion, router distance, interference, cellular jitter, evening ISP congestion, packet loss, poor routing to the selected NVIDIA data center, and other household traffic can all cause stutter or input delay.
Test GeForce NOW on the exact network and in the location where you intend to play. A stable 5GHz connection close to the router is generally preferable to a faster but congested or inconsistent link. Cellular data can work in suitable conditions, but jitter, coverage changes, and data limits make it less predictable.

For extended sessions, use a physical controller such as an Xbox Wireless Controller, DualSense, or a phone-mounted USB-C/Bluetooth controller. A mounted controller is more portable, while a full-size gamepad may be more comfortable. Wired or otherwise low-latency connections can be preferable for games where responsiveness matters, though they cannot compensate for a poor network path.
Cloud gaming reduces the phone’s local rendering workload, but the S24 still performs sustained video decoding, wireless networking, display refresh, and controller connectivity. Long 120Hz sessions can use substantial battery and generate heat. Battery-saving behavior or thermal management may also affect the experience.

Which S24 is best for GeForce NOW?
- Galaxy S24: Best for compact handheld play and fully suitable for 120Hz streaming, but its FHD+ screen cannot show a 1440p stream natively.
- Galaxy S24+: The more balanced choice for readers who want a larger QHD+ display that can make better use of 1440p streaming.
- Galaxy S24 Ultra: The largest and strongest display match in the family, with the trade-offs of greater size, weight, and cost.
Existing S24 owners do not need to buy another phone merely to try GeForce NOW. Buying an S24 specifically for this feature is harder to justify: the capability is an Android GeForce NOW feature, the subscription is separate, and the base model is not a native 1440p handset.
Should you use it?
GeForce NOW on the S24 family makes the most sense for an existing Ultimate subscriber with reliable 5GHz Wi-Fi, low latency, a suitable controller, and a supported game library. The S24+ and Ultra are more compelling if the phone itself is the main screen and native QHD+ detail matters.
It is a weaker fit for anyone with unstable Wi-Fi, high latency, a restrictive mobile-data plan, or only occasional interest in cloud gaming. In those cases, a faster display or a new router cannot solve the fundamental network or subscription limitations.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe Bottom Line
Bottom line: The Galaxy S24 family can use GeForce NOW’s Android support for up to 1440p at 120fps, provided NVIDIA’s requirements are met. It is not an S24-exclusive feature. The base S24 has a 120Hz FHD+ display, so it downscales 1440p; the S24+ and S24 Ultra are better native matches. For the best chance of 120fps, use Ultimate, enable 120Hz, connect over stable 5GHz Wi-Fi, and play in native Android mode rather than DeX.
