Epic Games says buying, selling, or sharing an account violates its Terms of Service, and warns that it can result in an account ban. The safest option is to create your own account and secure it.
Is buying a Fortnite account against Epic’s rules?
Yes. Epic Games Account Support states: “Account buying, selling, or sharing is not allowed and is against our Terms of Service.” Read Epic’s account support guidance.

Epic’s account-security page is explicit about the consequence: “Buying, selling, and sharing accounts is against our Terms of Service and will result in an account ban.” See Epic’s account-security guidance.
A seller’s promise, marketplace label, payment protection, or transfer procedure cannot make a prohibited purchase Epic-approved. Epic’s stated policy applies to the account transaction itself.

Why seller checks cannot make the purchase safe
There is no compliant checklist for vetting a Fortnite account seller: Epic does not permit the transfer in the first place. A marketplace guarantee or security service also cannot override Epic’s rule. The official sources establish that a ban is a consequence, but do not establish how quickly enforcement happens or whether any particular account will be banned.
Do not share your Epic password or enter it on an outside site to claim an account, offer, or reward. Epic advises users to avoid suspicious offers that request login credentials on external sites. Genuine offers are available through the Epic Games Store and official Epic websites and social channels.

What to do instead: create and secure your own account
Use an account you create yourself, then follow Epic’s security recommendations:
- Choose a unique password and keep it private.
- Enable two-factor authentication (2FA).
- Protect the email account linked to Epic, since access to that inbox matters for account security.
- Keep antivirus software up to date.
- Use the Epic Games Store, official Epic websites, or official Epic social channels for offers; do not provide credentials to an external site.
If an offer seems suspicious, or you have a concern about the security of your Epic account, contact Epic Player Support.
Quick Recap
Best Value
- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.
