No. Bethesda Support says you can’t change a Fallout 76 character’s name after creating it. If your goal is to change the name other players see, you may be able to edit your Bethesda.net Display Name instead—but that is separate from your character name and your platform ID.
Can you rename a Fallout 76 character after creation?
No. Bethesda Support’s character-name support article says: “It is not currently possible to change a character’s name once the character has been created.” Bethesda also notes that in some situations your character name is displayed only to you; other players see your account name instead.

How to change the name other players may see
If you mean your Bethesda.net Display Name, Bethesda says it can be changed through account management and appears in Fallout 76, as well as on leaderboards and friend lists. It does not change your Bethesda.net login username.
- Sign in to your Bethesda.net account.
- Open Account Management, then choose Edit Account.
- Answer the security question and enter the new value in the Display Name field.
The Display Name must be unique among Bethesda.net usernames and Display Names. Bethesda’s support article says you can change it once every three months; it notes that this interval is subject to change. See Bethesda’s Display Name instructions for the account-setting details.

Does renaming an item change your character’s name?
No. Fallout 76 lets you rename certain apparel, armor, weapons, power-armor chassis, and owned power-armor pieces from the item’s Inspect menu. The custom item name is visible only to you and reverts if the item is traded, sold, or dropped. This is item customization, not a character rename; see Bethesda’s item-renaming instructions.
