For a Jagex Account, that request disables the account and every character linked to it. If you only want a character out of the Jagex Launcher’s view, you can hide it instead; hiding does not delete or unlink it.
What “delete a RuneScape character” can mean
There are two different actions to consider: hiding a character from the Launcher, or submitting Jagex’s request to remove personal data. The first changes what you see. The second has account-wide consequences for a Jagex Account.

Can you delete or unlink just one character from a Jagex Account?
Jagex’s published guidance does not provide a way to remove or unlink one character from a Jagex Account. It says linked characters cannot be removed individually. Hiding a character in the Launcher only changes its visibility and does not separate it from the account. See Jagex’s character-management guidance.
How to hide a character in the Jagex Launcher
If you want to tidy the character list but keep the account and character, use the Launcher’s hide option described in Jagex’s character-management instructions. This changes the Launcher display only; it is not a deletion or an unlinking action.

How to request personal-data removal
- Open Jagex’s Delete your personal data page and follow the request process.
- When asked to log in, select any character associated with the account, as Jagex instructs for a Jagex Account request.
- Before submitting, check whether you still need access to any other characters linked to that Jagex Account. Jagex says the request permanently disables the Jagex Account and all associated characters; the published route is not a single-character deletion.
Jagex aims to resolve most requests within 30 days of receipt. It says more complex cases may take up to 90 days. These are service estimates, not guaranteed deadlines; see the request page and Jagex’s information about data privacy rights.

For a Jagex Account, Jagex says the account and every linked character will be permanently disabled. Its published guidance does not say whether a pending request can be withdrawn or whether a disabled account can later be restored, so do not rely on either option. If you are unsure, use Jagex’s support information to clarify the consequences before submitting.
