You can’t install or design a custom crosshair in Fortnite on Nintendo Switch. Epic Games Support says custom crosshairs are not supported. You can turn Fortnite’s built-in reticle on or off; for a separate aiming marker, some gaming monitors offer an overlay when the Switch is docked.
How to show or hide Fortnite’s built-in reticle
- Press the + button to open Fortnite’s in-game menu.
- Choose Settings, then open the Game UI tab.
- Find Reticle & Damage Feedback and switch Reticle on or off. Apply the change if the game prompts you.
These labels describe the available visibility control; this setting does not let you change the reticle’s shape, size, or color. Epic’s support answer is direct: custom crosshairs are not supported in Fortnite. The reticle instructions are platform-general, and the Switch-specific support guidance identifies the + button as the way to open the console menu. Menu layouts can change, so if the option is missing, check the current Game UI tab and the settings for your game mode.

Can a monitor add a crosshair when the Switch is docked?
Some gaming monitors have an on-screen crosshair or aim-point feature that draws a marker over the display. This can be a conditional workaround for a docked Switch, but it does not change Fortnite or its reticle. The marker may not line up with the game’s weapon-dependent reticles, and the feature is not available on every monitor; check the manual for your exact model.
Nintendo documents TV mode for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch – OLED Model, but Switch Lite does not support TV mode. That rules out this external-monitor approach for Lite and for handheld play. A monitor’s overlay feature is separate hardware functionality, not a Fortnite setting.

Why PC overlays, Creative settings, and codes aren’t Switch solutions
- PC overlay apps: The Crosshair X listing describes a PC game overlay and an extension using Xbox Game Bar. It does not document support for Nintendo Switch.
- Creative island controls: Epic’s HUD Controller documentation describes controls for island creators to show or hide HUD elements. It is not a player-side editor for Fortnite’s general reticle.
- Crosshair codes or imports: The cited official sources do not document a player-defined crosshair profile code or shape-and-color import.
