If you want to marry an eligible villager after inviting him in, you must evict Krobus first.
Why Krobus and marriage are mutually exclusive
Krobus is not a marriage candidate; the Stardew Valley Wiki lists his status as “No, but can become a roommate.” He can move into the farmhouse three days after accepting a Void Ghost Pendant, but only if you are unmarried when you invite him.

The roommate system borrows some marriage mechanics, but it does not make Krobus your spouse. There is no wedding ceremony, he hugs rather than kisses you, and he does not become jealous when you give gifts to marriage candidates.
How to switch from Krobus to marriage
If Krobus already lives with you, use the book in the Mayor’s Manor to evict him. Eviction is free. After he moves out, he becomes silent toward you and refuses gifts; the Dark Shrine of Memory can erase his memory later.

Once Krobus has moved out, you can pursue an eligible villager by meeting the usual proposal requirements:
- Reach 8 hearts and give the villager a bouquet. Then build the relationship to 10 hearts.
- Upgrade your farmhouse at least once and unlock access to the Tide Pool area of the beach.
- Find the Old Mariner and buy a Mermaid’s Pendant. He appears on rainy days; in winter, he appears only if you use a Rain Totem. He will not sell the pendant to a player who is already married. See the marriage requirements for details.
- Give the Mermaid’s Pendant to your intended spouse to propose.
