You can’t install or use mods or custom content (CC) in The Sims 4 on Xbox One. EA says mods are available only on PC and Mac, not Xbox or PlayStation. Cheats are a separate feature and do not add player-created modifications.
Why mods don’t work on Xbox One
EA’s mod installation guide explicitly limits mods to PC and Mac. EA’s console guide also lists mod and custom-content support among the features unavailable on console. The installation process EA documents uses the game’s files and settings on PC or Mac; it does not provide an Xbox installation method.

A USB drive, external storage device, or Xbox setting cannot enable a feature the console version does not support. EA has not announced a date or roadmap for adding console mod support in the cited guides.
What you can do instead
Keep playing on Xbox
You can continue playing the console version, but you’ll need to use its supported features rather than mods or CC. The Gallery is not a way to install mod files on Xbox; EA lists Gallery access as an exception to console feature parity, not a route to console mod support.

Use cheats for in-game effects
Cheats and mods are different. EA’s Sims 4 FAQ says console players can use nearly every PC cheat, while also identifying mods and custom content as unsupported. Cheats are entered as in-game codes; they do not install new player-created content.
Switch to PC or Mac for mods
EA’s supported mod setup applies to the PC and Mac versions:

- Download a mod from a source you trust. EA says it does not pre-screen, endorse, or support specific mods or custom content.
- Unzip the download if needed.
- Place the mod files in the game’s Mods folder.
- In Game Options, turn on Enable Custom Content and Mods.
- Relaunch the game.
These instructions are for PC and Mac, not Xbox. EA also states that the console and PC/Mac versions are separate and that progress is not shared, so don’t assume Sims, households, lots, or saves will transfer if you change platforms.
