Blizzard’s current requirements list Windows and macOS, and its setup instructions use the Battle.net desktop app on a Windows PC or Mac. To play WoW, use a computer that meets the current requirements.
Is World of Warcraft available on Nintendo Switch?
Blizzard’s official World of Warcraft materials do not list a Nintendo Switch version or provide instructions for installing WoW on the console. They list Windows and macOS as supported desktop platforms. That means there is no official Switch download or native installation method documented by Blizzard.
The official pages reviewed also do not document a supported Switch streaming or remote-play setup. Unofficial console modifications or third-party streaming arrangements should not be treated as an approved or assured way to play; they have not been established here as working solutions.
How to install WoW on a supported computer
Blizzard’s returning-player instructions describe installing the game through the Battle.net desktop app on Windows or Mac:
Recommended Free Tools
#1 Best Overall
- The next evolution of Nintendo Switch
- One system, three play modes: TV, Tabletop, and Handheld
- Larger, vivid, 7.9” LCD touch screen with support for HDR and up to 120 fps
- Dock that supports 4K when connected to a compatible TV*
- GameChat** lets you voice chat, share your game screen, and connect via video chat as you play
- Download and open the Battle.net desktop app for Windows or Mac.
- Select World of Warcraft in the app.
- Choose the relevant WoW version and account.
- Select Install, then select Play after installation finishes.
Before buying or upgrading a computer, check Blizzard’s live system requirements. They cover the operating system, processor, graphics, memory, storage, internet connection and input devices; Blizzard lists broadband internet and a keyboard and mouse. Requirements can change, so compare a computer with the current specifications rather than relying on an older recommendation.
Does WoW require a subscription?
Blizzard’s New Players Starter Guide says the free trial includes playable content up to level 20. A WoW subscription or game time is required for content beyond level 20. This distinction concerns account access and game content, not a Nintendo Switch option; check Blizzard’s current guide for the terms that apply when you sign up.
