No—new players cannot get Rocket League through Steam. Epic says the Steam version is available only to people who owned it before the game went free-to-play, and Epic Support cannot grant Steam ownership. If you are new to the game on PC, download its free-to-play version from the Epic Games Store. You can still play with friends on Steam through cross-play.
Who can still play Rocket League on Steam?
If you owned Rocket League on Steam before it became free-to-play, you can continue using your Steam copy. Psyonix said existing Steam owners would keep access to the game, including future updates and features.

If you did not own it on Steam before that transition, you cannot claim or download it there now. Epic’s support page says the Steam version is limited to prior owners and that Epic Games Support cannot grant Rocket League on Steam: Epic Games Support: Can I still claim Rocket League on Steam?
How to get Rocket League on PC as a new player
Get the free-to-play PC version from the Epic Games Store. Psyonix announced the transition on July 21, 2020, explaining that the Steam version would no longer be available to download for new players: Psyonix’s free-to-play announcement.

There is no official Steam claim or purchase route for a new player. Unofficial offers such as Steam keys or buying another person’s account are not an official way to gain Steam ownership; Epic’s support guidance does not provide such a workaround.
Can Epic Games Store players play with Steam friends?
Yes. Rocket League supports cross-play between the Epic Games Store and Steam, so you do not need to use the same storefront as your friends. Cross-play is enabled by default, and private matches with friends on other platforms are supported. See Epic’s cross-platform play guidance.

What happens to progress when you link accounts?
Linking platforms to an Epic account can sync Rocket League progress across them. If the platforms have different progress, the progress cannot be combined: you must choose which set to keep. You can link only one account of each platform type to an Epic account at a time. Review Epic’s account-linking guidance before linking if you have separate progress you want to preserve.

No. Rocket League’s April 28, 2026 PC update says Easy Anti-Cheat is required for online play on PC and notes Steam Deck and Linux support. Those are PC play requirements and compatibility details; they do not make the Steam version available to new players. The update is described in Rocket League’s PC update announcement.
