Not as a player-chosen couple. Compatible allies can build supports and unlock conversations, but you cannot pair two non-Alear characters for a romance or shared ending. Alear can give the Pact Ring to one ally with an A support; the resulting scene may be romantic or platonic, depending on the character.
What “pairing” means in Fire Emblem Engage
Engage has character-to-character Support ranks, but they are not a matchmaking system. Raising support with another ally unlocks conversations and can improve combat bonuses when those characters fight near each other. It does not let you select a couple or assign two allies a paired ending.

Fighting alongside an ally can help build Support, and proximity can matter for support bonuses. That is different from a permanent paired unit or a relationship ending: Support rank does not let you combine two characters into a couple.

How character Supports differ from Emblem Bonds

Nintendo treats these as separate conversation systems. In a 2023 developer interview, it reported about 650 conversations between characters and about 1,300 character-and-Emblem Bond conversations. Those are conversation counts, not numbers of romantic pairings or endings: Nintendo’s developer interview.
What the Pact Ring lets Alear do
The Pact Ring is Alear’s special relationship choice. Alear can give it to one ally who has reached A support, unlocking a Ring Support. It is not a way to pair two other allies, and the scene’s tone depends on the recipient: it can be romantic or platonic. A secondary guide describes the choice as limited to one character; a player-maintained script places the ring’s availability after Chapter 22, so treat that specific timing as secondary-source information rather than an official guarantee. Can two non-Alear characters get a paired ending?
No. Support conversations let compatible allies develop their relationship, but the support system does not offer a player-selected romance or paired ending for two non-Alear characters. The Pact Ring is specifically Alear’s one-ally Ring Support choice, not a general pairing feature.
