Eligible creators can exchange qualifying Earned Robux through its Developer Exchange (DevEx) program: the standard rate is $0.0038 per Earned Robux, or $114 for 30,000. Certain purchases made by verified U.S. players aged 18 or older can qualify for a higher $0.0054 rate, or $162 per 30,000. Those figures describe conversion rates—not what a particular game will earn.
What Roblox creators actually earn
Creators make money through several platform activities, including in-experience purchases, subscriptions, Creator Rewards, in-game advertising, avatar Marketplace sales, and Creator Store items such as models and plugins. Earnings depend on what players buy or do, which monetization rules apply, and whether the resulting Robux qualifies for DevEx.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Roblox describes creators as generally receiving 70% of Robux spent in their games and 30% of Marketplace sales. Some sales made in real money can pay creators up to 90%. These percentages apply to different transaction types; they are not a single universal share and do not mean the creator receives that percentage as cash. Cashing out through DevEx requires eligible Earned Robux and a successful review.
DevEx cash-out rates
| Rate category | When it applies | Per Earned Robux | For 30,000 Earned Robux |
|---|---|---|---|
| Current standard rate | Qualifying earnings on or after September 5, 2025, at 10 a.m. Pacific Time | $0.0038 | $114 |
| Older balance rate | Qualifying balances earned before September 5, 2025, at 10 a.m. Pacific Time | $0.0035 | $105 |
| U.S. 18+ rate | Specified qualifying in-game purchases by verified U.S. players aged 18 or older, subject to program criteria | $0.0054 | $162 |
The current standard rate and the older rate are described in Roblox’s Developer Exchange documentation and DevEx Help and Information page. Roblox says older-rate balances must be cashed out before newer-rate balances. The U.S. 18+ rate is limited to specified purchases—developer products, passes, subscriptions, and private servers may qualify—and is processed first. See Roblox’s U.S. 18+ exchange-rate criteria.

These are calculations from the listed rates, not estimates of likely game revenue. They are before any personal tax obligations.
Who can cash out through DevEx?
Roblox’s DevEx overview says creators must be at least 13 and have at least 30,000 Earned Robux to submit a cash-out request. Not every Robux balance counts: Roblox defines Earned Robux as Robux earned by creating value on the platform. Direct Robux purchases, subscription grants, gift card redemptions, and some other sources do not qualify. Roblox retains discretion over which Robux qualifies; its Earned Robux and DevEx rates guidance explains eligibility and balance estimates.

Roblox reviews each request. The DevEx dashboard is an estimate, not confirmation that every displayed Robux is eligible or that a payout will be approved. A completed request can be made once per calendar month, and Roblox says a submitted request cannot be cancelled. The DevEx documentation also describes the cash-out process and review.
How the earning routes differ
Experience purchases and subscriptions
Players can spend Robux on items and access within an experience, including developer products, passes, subscriptions, or private servers. Roblox says creators generally earn 70% of Robux spent in their games. Specific qualifying purchases by verified U.S. players aged 18 or older may instead contribute to the higher DevEx rate; the transaction must meet Roblox’s criteria.

Creator Rewards
Creator Rewards replaced the Creator Affiliate and Engagement-Based Payouts programs effective July 24, 2025. The documented Daily Engagement Reward is 5 Robux when a qualifying Active Spender plays an experience for at least 10 minutes. It is not a payment for every player visit. Audience Expansion rewards have their own conditions, including account verification and experience-audience requirements. Roblox’s Creator Rewards documentation details the rules; its monetization overview explains earning methods.
Avatar Marketplace and Creator Store
Creators can earn from avatar-item sales on the Marketplace and from eligible Creator Store sales, such as models and plugins. Roblox’s headline share for Marketplace sales is generally 30%; Creator Store sales are a separate route, so the Marketplace percentage should not be applied to them. Roblox lists these options in its creator monetization overview.

Advertising and real-money sales
In-game advertising and certain sales made in real money are additional earning routes. Roblox says creators can earn up to 90% on some real-money sales; that is a maximum for some transactions, not a universal rate. The amount and DevEx treatment depend on the applicable program and transaction.

What Roblox’s creator median says—and does not say
Roblox reports that more than 35,000 creators participated in DevEx and that the median creator received $1,550 USD during the 12 months ended December 31, 2025. This is a platform-reported historical median for DevEx creators, not a salary, a per-game figure, or a forecast for a new developer. The figure appears in Roblox’s creator income overview.

Taxes and take-home pay
The DevEx conversion rate is not the same as personal take-home income after taxes. A creator’s tax obligations depend on their circumstances and jurisdiction; Roblox’s payout rate alone cannot determine an individual’s net amount.
