You can’t set up four-player split-screen Zombies in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War based on the available setup information. The documented console method adds a second local player; the sources confirm Zombies split-screen exists but do not establish a four-player maximum—or show a way to add four local players.

How to add a second player to Cold War Zombies split-screen
- Connect a second compatible controller to your console and sign in.
- Start Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and enter the Zombies lobby.
- Use the split-screen join prompt shown in the lobby on the second controller.
- If you want to change the layout, look in Graphics settings for the horizontal or vertical split-screen orientation option. Activision’s accessibility documentation lists both orientations for consoles; menu labels may have changed since the 2020 setup guide.
For online play, follow the current account and subscription requirements for your platform. GameSpot’s 2020 guide says each player needs an individual platform account and that the second player needs a separate Activision account for online split-screen; in the cases it describes, a guest account is limited to local play. Check current platform rules, since they can change.
Why four-player split-screen is not established
Activision’s known-issues page confirms that Zombies split-screen exists: it says graphical inconsistencies during Zombies split-screen were addressed. It does not state how many players can join. The documented console setup explains adding a second player, not four.

The Xbox listing shows “Xbox local co-op (2–4)” and “Shared/split screen” for the game, but those broad capability labels do not identify Zombies mode or promise four-player Zombies split-screen. They are not evidence that four people can play Zombies on one screen.

What to do if the join prompt does not appear
- Confirm the second controller is connected and signed in to the console before entering the Zombies lobby.
- Check for the on-screen join prompt in the lobby and follow its controller-specific instruction; the exact prompt can vary by platform or change with updates.
- If you are trying to play online, check the platform’s current account and subscription requirements. A guest account may not meet the requirements described for online split-screen.
