No October 2026 free weekend for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is confirmed by the official announcements available here. The documented free trial ran October 9–16, 2025. Separately, Xbox announced that the game joined Game Pass Premium, Ultimate and PC Game Pass on September 25, 2026; that is subscription access, not a free trial.
Is Black Ops 6 free to play this weekend?
There is no verified announcement in the official sources cited here for a free Black Ops 6 weekend in October 2026. That does not prove no new offer has been announced; check the Call of Duty official blog for current event information before planning around a trial.
The latest specific free-trial announcement located was Activision’s 2025 Season 06 offer. It ran from October 9 at 9 AM PT to October 16 at 10 AM PT, a week-long window rather than a weekend. Activision described it as a free trial. Activision’s Season 06 announcement and Xbox Wire’s announcement both refer to that 2025 event.
What the 2025 free trial included
For the historical trial, Activision said players could access the following modes:

- Developed by Treyarch and Raven, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is a spy action thriller set in the early 90s, a period of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterized by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower.
- This is signature Black Ops across a cinematic single-player Campaign, a best-in-class Multiplayer experience, and the epic return of Round-Based Zombies.
- The Black Ops 6 Campaign provides dynamic moment-to-moment gameplay that includes a variety of play spaces with blockbuster set pieces and action-packed moments, high-stakes heists, and cloak-and-dagger spy activity.
- In a best-in-class Multiplayer experience, players will test their skills across 16 new maps at launch, including 12 core 6v6 maps and 4 Strike maps that can be played 2v2 or 6v6.
- Black Ops 6 also marks the epic return of Round-Based Zombies, the fan-favorite mode where players will take down hordes of the undead in two brand-new maps at launch. Post-launch, players can look forward to even more exciting maps and groundbreaking experiences dropping into both Multiplayer and Zombies.
- Campaign: full access.
- Multiplayer: access to all Multiplayer content except Ranked Play.
- Zombies: access to Zombies, including Directed Mode.
Activision described the offer as including more than 40 Multiplayer maps and all six Zombies maps. Those counts and mode details apply to the 2025 trial announcement; they should not be treated as confirmation of what a new 2026 offer might include. See Activision’s announcement for the 2025 trial.
Free trial versus Game Pass access
The two offers are different: one was a limited-time trial, while the other is access through a paid subscription catalog. Xbox’s September 15, 2026 announcement says Black Ops 6 joined Game Pass Premium on September 25, alongside Ultimate and PC Game Pass. It does not describe that catalog addition as a free weekend or trial.
