There is no verified native Windows PC version of Forza Horizon 2. The documented way to play it with a PC involved streaming the game from an Xbox One: the console ran the game, and a Windows PC displayed the stream. That is not a PC installation. Xbox’s July 2026 announcement of its PC backward-compatibility program named four other games, not Forza Horizon 2.
Can you install Forza Horizon 2 on a Windows PC?
No official native Windows version is established by the available evidence. A dated Microsoft Learn community answer said the game was unavailable for PC, while the newer Xbox PC backward-compatibility announcement lists four initial titles and does not include it. The 2026 lineup was BLiNX: The Time Sweeper, Conker: Live and Reloaded, Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, and Fuzion Frenzy. Xbox described the program as early access and said more games may come over time, but did not promise that Forza Horizon 2 would be added. Microsoft Learn Q&A; Xbox Wire, July 22, 2026.

Those sources do not establish a current PC purchase listing for the game on Steam, Microsoft Store, or another official PC storefront. Nor does the PC backward-compatibility announcement establish that it can be installed through the Xbox app.
Can you stream it from an Xbox One to a PC?
Microsoft documented this route in a 2015 Windows 10 briefing. Phil Spencer described having the game installed on an Xbox One and selecting the Xbox app’s streaming option on a Surface Pro 3: “And you see stream from the Xbox One.” In that setup, the Xbox One runs Forza Horizon 2; the PC acts as the screen and streaming client. The demonstration proves that console-to-PC streaming worked in that historical setup; it does not prove that the same app, feature, or setup remains available unchanged today. Check current Xbox support information for the app, hardware, network, and regional requirements before buying anything for this purpose. An Xbox One copy alone cannot run the game on a PC.
Which route is supported?
| Route | What the evidence establishes | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Native Windows game | No verified native PC version is established. The 2026 PC backward-compatibility launch list names four other games. Microsoft Learn Q&A; Xbox Wire. | There is no verified official Windows installation route. |
| Stream from Xbox One | Microsoft demonstrated Forza Horizon 2 running on Xbox One and streaming to a Surface Pro 3 in 2015. Microsoft briefing. | The console runs the game; the PC receives the stream. Verify current setup requirements. |
| Xbox 360 backward compatibility | Xbox Wire’s 2018 list names Forza Horizon, the first game—not Forza Horizon 2. Xbox Wire. | Do not treat the original game’s compatibility as proof that either edition of Forza Horizon 2 works on PC. |
| Emulation | The sources here do not establish an authorized, supported emulator route for Forza Horizon 2. | It cannot be recommended as an official or guaranteed way to play; compatibility and lawful game-image access are not established here. |
What to check before buying a copy
If you want to pursue the documented console-streaming route, search for the Xbox One edition, not a supposed PC edition. A disc is useful only if you have compatible Xbox One hardware that can run it and a working way to stream to your PC. Confirm the edition and seller’s details before purchase. Current resale stock and prices, disc condition, region restrictions, and present-day streaming setup have not been established here.
