You cannot play the Halo Infinite Campaign in local split screen. Halo Support says local split screen is for competitive Multiplayer on Xbox consoles; Campaign co-op is online Network Co-Op, with each player using a separate system. If you want to play together on one Xbox, split-screen Multiplayer is the supported option.
Why Halo Infinite Campaign split screen is not available
Halo Infinite treats Campaign co-op and local Multiplayer split screen as separate features. Campaign supports Network Co-Op, not couch co-op on one console. Halo Support describes local split screen as available only for competitive Multiplayer on Xbox consoles: Halo Support: How to Play Halo Infinite Multiplayer with Friends.

Connecting a second controller or signing in another local player does not add a second Campaign character. The supported local-player setup applies to Multiplayer, and each local player needs a separate Xbox account; guest accounts are not supported for this use.

Network Co-Op is the official way to play the Halo Infinite Campaign with other people. Halo Support lists a maximum of four players and says cross-play between Xbox and PC is supported. Each player joins online rather than sharing one console and screen.

- Add the other player as a friend on the Xbox network.
- Open the Campaign experience, then create or join a Campaign Fireteam and invite the other player.
- Once the other players have joined, start or continue the Campaign together.
For current menu behavior, Halo Support’s Halo Infinite Campaign Installation Changes FAQ says players must load into Campaign before creating or joining a Campaign-based Fireteam. If a Fireteam switches between Campaign and Multiplayer, it must leave and reform after loading into the other experience.
Play split-screen Multiplayer on one Xbox
If your priority is sharing one console, local split screen is available in supported Multiplayer modes, not Campaign. Sync a second Xbox controller and sign into a second Xbox account; a guest account cannot be used. Player limits vary by console and mode, so the four-player limit does not apply everywhere.

What about Halo: Campaign Evolved?
Halo: Campaign Evolved is a separate game, not a way to turn on split screen in Halo Infinite. Xbox Wire reported on October 24, 2025, that the remake is planned for 2026 and is intended to support two-player local split-screen co-op on console, alongside online co-op for up to four players across Xbox, PC, and PlayStation 5. Those are announced plans for that title, not an available feature in Halo Infinite: Xbox Wire: Halo: Campaign Evolved – Answering the Big Questions About This Ambitious Remake.
