No. Hogwarts Legacy is a single-player game with no online or co-op gameplay, so you cannot join a friend’s session or play together. The game’s official FAQ says this directly, and Xbox’s product listing labels multiplayer “No.”
Does Hogwarts Legacy have co-op or online multiplayer?
No. The official Hogwarts Legacy FAQ describes the game as a single-player experience and says it has no online or co-op gameplay. That means there is no mode for inviting friends into your adventure or joining theirs.
The official Xbox listing independently marks multiplayer as “No.”
Can you play together across PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, or PC?
No. The FAQ lists PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 (including PlayStation 4 Pro), Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC as supported platforms, but does not identify an online or co-op exception for any version. Having the game on different platforms—or the same platform—does not let players connect for multiplayer.

Do story companions let a friend join?
No. Some Hogwarts students can become friends with your character in the story, but they are in-game characters, not other players. The FAQ’s separate statement that there is no online or co-op gameplay rules out controlling the adventure together with a real-life friend.
Does the internet connection or a purchase unlock multiplayer?
No. The FAQ says a physical copy needs an internet connection to install its Day 1 patch; for digital purchases, the patch comes with the initial download. That installation requirement is separate from online play and does not add multiplayer.

The FAQ does not describe an edition, add-on, accessory, or official game guide that enables co-op. It also says the game has no microtransactions and notes that the Standard Edition can purchase the Dark Arts Pack in-game separately; neither changes the single-player format.

Warner Bros. Games publishes Hogwarts Legacy under the Portkey Games label, and Avalanche Software developed it. The official FAQ describes it as an open-world action role-playing game set in the 1800s wizarding world. The Xbox listing gives February 10, 2023, as the release date for the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One versions.
